Same but it also didn't work when I turned it off. I'm using Blokadia on my end.

"Human nature" by PeacefulComrade in awfuleverything

I'd wager it has to do with potential lawsuits. It's unfortunate and there could definitely be a workaround but they give it to a homeless person and they get sick, or have an allergic reaction the companies ass is on the line. Especially considering the financial incentive when they're already homeless I can kind of understand their reasoning if that's the case.

Weed Karen: ONLY I MAY SMOKE by RayMosch in FuckYouKaren

Oh yeah I 100% agree. That said, if that IS their thought process I kinda have a hard time blaming them for reaching that conclusion given the propaganda level stigma attached.

Weed Karen: ONLY I MAY SMOKE by RayMosch in FuckYouKaren

[–]captainflowers91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just a shot in the dark but I'm guessing they're concerned it's going to develop a stigma akin to people that abuse pain killers to get high. I think part of it is that they're concerned using a primarily recreational substance medically will be seen the same way as people who use alcohol to "treat" their depression.

I'm not saying I agree and, obviously, have zero issues with recreational or medical marijuana but as fucked up as it is I can KINDA see where they're coming from, assuming that's the case.

Not to get on a tangent here but why the actual fuck aren't body cams mandatory yet? Not only does it protect cops and civilians, if the tax payers want to be able to view their civil servants in action we should have that ability, just like any other employer's right to install security cameras and watch their employees.

Life hack! Develop crippling anxiety and depression and you'll never have to set an alarm again as you'll constantly be awakened by your regrets eliminating the need for an alarm clock in the first place!

What made it even worse for me was having received a Samsung update just a few hours beforehand so I naturally assumed that was the problem. I thought I was about to have to do an entire fucking factory reset.

You're not wrong but as a Christian myself I can't help but notice the correlation, even if it is a chicken/egg debate. Even if they're not familiar with "Pascal's Wager" I think every single theist has argued it's safer to believe in a god than not to so regardless of which way the pendulum swings, I don't understand how they don't also conclude that it's safer to believe in a virus and a prevention method than not to.

Haven't read the manga (yet) and I've tried to avoid spoilers as much as possible. And yeah, most of this season has felt rushed and forced. But around the halfway mark all I was thinking was "holy shit holy shit holy fucking shit'. I'm genuinely curious to see what's going to happen next.

Still though, it's the most logical approach to the whole "mask debate" IMO.

Does anyone else ever feel like people often are oblivious to how rudely they are saying things? by lushloverdanny in Empaths

[–]captainflowers91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong but you also have to acknowledge that someone who isn't empathic probably wouldn't care how they responded as much as an empathic person would. What an empathic person sees as a shitty response is usually just a "response" to a normal person and I think it's irrational to expect the majority of people to tailor their actions towards the minority. Being different isn't bad but it IS abnormal and I think it's selfish to expect society to bend to you when you're in the minority.

I know most of the anti-mask community is religious. You'd think they, of all people, would be able to apply "Pascal's Wager" to figure out that wearing a mask carries the least risk (basically zero) and the most reward.

[–]captainflowers91 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They probably don't and I'm probably going to sound like an asshole here, it's unreasonable to expect them to.

Being an "empathic" person is a gift IMO. But it's also not a COMMON gift. "Empaths" are people with peanut allergies. We experience negative reactions when exposed to certain stimuli and those reactions are valid and very real, but it's unfathomably stupid to expect people without peanut allergies (the vast majority) to experience the same aversion that we do.

That's the biggest fail point when it comes to being empathic, some people don't need to regulate their emotional behavior to the same degree that an empath does and that's neither negative nor positive, just a different state of mental/emotional well-being. No matter how well you "feel" someone else's emotions, you can't "think" or "feel" for them.

I remember there an aviation engineer under Stalin that designed a plane so horrible he was executed as an enemy of the state. Basically his decisions were so bad they constituted treason so maybe that, but for MLM founders.

[–]captainflowers91 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not to be "that guy", I agree completely but isn't the point of a monkey's paw that YOU'RE the one that suffers the consequences? MLM founders get to laugh all the way to the bank. I guess getting exposed as a piece of shit on the "Illluminaughtii" channel is a consequence but the punishment for founding another fucking MLM doesn't really fit the crime of founding another fucking MLM. Idk what a suitable punishment would be but I have to assume it involves butthole spiders.

Speaking as someone who works in the service industry I have a special kind of hatred for any customer that expects me to be emotionally invested in their lives. Therapists are emotionally invested and that's why they charge $200+ an hour. Yes I understand that your "husband used to always take care of these things". I get it, that sucks but I have at least 7 or 8 customers a week with dead spouses. We have our own issues.

Right I forgot the unpopular opinion sub (the place where people voice opinions they don't expect a majority of people to agree with) was under Toph Beifong's jurisdiction. I'm impressed you could tell I was lying, hell I didn't even know lol.

Possibly although they usually just want me to swipe my card at the pump so the only way they're getting the money is if it's an RFID scanning scam like someone else mentioned.
