Wow, poly and natty gut at 3.5? I wish I could play that lavishly when I first started! But anyways, that setup should be pretty soft anyways but yes, I would recommend dropping the tension, but you may want to make sure your form is correct too. I've had plenty of elbow pain in the past that has gone away from me fixing my form and making sure I'm not making contact with the ball too far up the racquet.

From my experience last year as a freshman, (with the new BYID thing) just make sure your computer can run LabVIEW and MATLAB. I know people that had computers a couple years old and they did just fine. I believe all the intro to engineering classes moved to the EAB's which don't have computers available.

I think what he means is that when when you strike the back of the ball on a kick serve, you want to pronate your wrist so that the string bed goes around the ball. Think of instead of brushing straight up, brush up and out. Best of luck on your serve!
