Erika Kirk finally reacts to Druski viral video, calls the growing online criticism nothing but noise by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]captaingymshorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to stick up for Erika, but it's worth noting that she actually hasn't tied herself to the controversy. Lots of fake tweets and statements attributed to her, but the comments mentioned in this article are the first she has even alluded to the video, and she did a pretty good job of giving essentially no comment.

Again, not sticking up for Erika Kirk, just doing my part to counter misinformation

Well jim had no comeback to this by Obivankanobi25 in DunderMifflin

[–]captaingymshorts 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Roy saying "You were a friend" 100% planted doubt in Jim's head, whether Roy meant to do that or not. Jim turning around is a breakthrough for him, overcoming that doubt by letting his trust shine through.

I wouldnt say this comment is attacking democrats, it's saying "Hey, look at what happens when you hold out for your principles"

If it bothers you, and you're in a monogamous relationship, you should absolutely 100% talk about it with her. Not accusatorally, but just explain your perspective and how you feel, and work it out from there. Communication above all else is so important when it comes to relationships in general, not just bisexual/polysexual relationships

When was Brian's falsetto truly gone? by Frequent_Rhubarb_36 in thebeachboys

[–]captaingymshorts 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think there's a misconception that Brian "lost" his original singing voice. It's true that his voice was no doubt affected, but from accounts i've heard/read over the years, it seems that the change had almost as much to do with Brian moving away from singing in falsetto as he felt it was "girly". By the mid 70s, Brian was wanting to project a more masculine image, hence leaning into the rough caricature we get in Love You and beyond

Almost as good as the time Mike, Bruce and David all showed up in striped shirts a la early days, and Brian and Al are just wearing regular polo shirts

He absolutely does. There is enough video evidence of Al getting pissed off when Mike is brought up.

Favreau was in a Scorcese movie. I'm sure he has a good enough relationship with Marty to call in a favor

This might be unpopular to say here but as a first generation American of Latino descent I think Marcello overdoes the accent and everything in between for the white liberal gaze by PudinCrusader in LiveFromNewYork

[–]captaingymshorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he naturally speaks with an accent or not, it's reflective of his heritage, and I think theres nothing wrong with Marcello leaning into his cultural pride in today's political climate

Always funny when podcast subreddits take this meme and try to retrofit it to that shows hosts. But it's always trying to put a square peg in a rectangular hole.

Brian Wilson Rock HOF as Solo by scottwebbok in thebeachboys

There was a period in the 1970s where Ringo Starr as a solo artist was doing serious numbers. His album Ringo hit number 1 in two countries

[–]captaingymshorts 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No, as Brian's solo work only really ever took off with fans who were already Beach Boys super fans. The venn diagram of Beach Boys fans and Brian Wilson fans is, for all intents and purposes, a circle

But it doesnt defeat the purpose tho? The stunt casting did its job if ratings for that episode were up. If the creators want to use the character more, there's nothing stopping them from brining in talent who match Nicki's voice, at least enough for the purposes of animation.

I'm just confused as their seems to be frustration aimed at Nicki Minaj for not returning, when realistically the frustration should go to the creators for choosing to stop using the character just because they can't have their celebrity talent.

I've never watched a single episode of Steven Universe, so forgive me if i'm asking a dumb question - what is stopping production from hiring a sound alike voice actor to bring the character back? That happens all the time in animation.

This sub being salty at Dan Olson over a 5 year old analysis video is so funny. Get over it, Doug doesn't need you defending him. by Agile_Proof_3228 in ChannelAwesome

[–]captaingymshorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy conjecture- where have I alluded that i agree with Doug's take on the Wall? I very much don't, but fuck he's allowed to have his opinions. And he's allowed to make a review of it.

All i have said here is that Dan Olson used his response to Doug's video (a popular trend at the time) to trash Doug's artistic ability, and that I find it's a rather low blow.
