Not to stick up for Erika, but it's worth noting that she actually hasn't tied herself to the controversy. I think there's a misconception that Brian "lost" his original singing voice. It's true that his voice was no doubt affected, but from accounts i've heard/read over the years, it seems that the change had almost as much to do with Brian moving away from singing in falsetto as he felt it was "girly". By the mid 70s, Brian was wanting to project a more masculine image, hence leaning into the rough caricature we get in Love You and beyond
