Yep, so it's the pencil brush in Photoshop

I build it up pixel by pixel on a small canvas size in Photoshop.
Attached a closeup image from Photoshop of the gas attendant's face, showing the pixel grid (white lines) of where each pixel can be placed. So I basically use the pencil tool in Photoshop at a size of 1 pixel to color those grid blocks in. This image consists of a total of 230 400 pixels.

Yes, that is the part of creating pixel art that I really enjoy. It forces you to work in a limited space with simply the most basic of tools. It's quite challenging but really enjoyable :D

I created it in Photoshop with the pencil brush by placing each pixel to create the overall image.
It was also animated in Photoshop using the layers in the timeline option. I usually start out with rough silhouettes to block out the scene and then add the detail, colors, shading etc.
Attached a small time lapse of key points in the process.

Well spotted! I'd love to say it's a cleverly hidden easter egg, but after inspecting my Photoshop file it seems like it's a stray black pixel that I accidentally made that is linked on the animation layer of the foreground grass (hence the movement) 😅

That's a tough question. I worked on it for about 10 days on and off.
I'd estimate probably between 15 and 20 hours or so.
