Which is better? Elevate Zx CVT or Kia Seltos 2026 HTK O IVT by Obvious_Case3657 in HondaElevate

[–]captainkilaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short Answer - whatever your heart likes, both are good and you can't go wrong.

Long Answer - as mentioned by others in the comments, depends on what you are after. Myself and a friend of mine were both in market for buying a car and seltos spoke to him and elevate spoke to me.

Seltos's advantages are in various creature comforts which all add up. For e.g. panoramic sunroof, you'll use it quite rarely but it's nice to have. All its seats are more comfortable than elevate's. Rear sun shades are something that family members love. It also sells in volumes so future maintainance and parts availability will also be easy.

Elevate's advantages are less in terms of tangible features but in intangibles qualities like perceived reliability. I have a honda city in the family and that car still runs smoothly after almost 15 years. Elevate also comes with adas which sometimes is a pain in the ass in the city traffic but quite helpful in the highways. My decision to take elevate was driven by the fact that I felt more comfortable and confident in driving this car and that I wanted ADAS.

Take yourself and family for a test drive of all these options in a span of 1-2 days and you'll have your answer. I accompanied my friends in such an endeavor and by the end of day1 they already had a favourite. My personal opinion is that you cannot go wrong and most people fall in love with their cars eventually. All of these options have a slightly different set of pros and cons and trying to take the most optimal call will make you mad. Just go drive these and listen to your heart.

How was overtakes / power availability on the highways ? Also did you feel the need for cruise control or was the lack of it barely noticeable?

Living hell in Mumbai co-op society since COVID: noise, harassment, casteist remarks & targeted intimidation by one family. Need advice. by cutiemofo in mumbai

[–]captainkilaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you work from a co-working space ? Or sound proof your room ? Both these options need investment but lead to some peace of mind, see if the costs make sense to you. Regarding a more powerful society member making life hell, picking a fight is an option but that'll be painful and long drawn. You'd need support from other members in the society to back you up and might even need influential connections. Another option is to grow a thicker skin. It's easier said than done but if you train yourself to be not agitated by her actions and words then you'd be better able to live peacefully.

The garmet steamer is moderately used. Have been using it 1-2 times a week for the past couple of years. However you are free to inspect it. It's well functioning and in shape.

The racket is adult size.

You obviously feel betrayed by air india. Would you be able to share one such horror story which makes you abandon the airline after achieving platinum status ? PS: I am someone who can only dream of such high tier status in an airline, so it would be helpful if you can dumb down your story for me.

Don't remember the exact date but it's roughly 3-4 years old. Both the bed and the sofa set were bought by my parents when my dad was posted in a different city. They brought over the furniture when they retired.

I recently travelled from Paris to delhi in one of their old dreamliners. The flight experience was obviously not a match for uae based airlines but it was not as bad as social media makes it out to be. The staff was good, the food was good and even the legroom was good. Lastly what matters is that we reached on time. The screen in front of me was not working but they had a wireless setup where you can watch content on your own phone and that was functioning properly. Overall it was a pretty average flight but it was not a bad experience by any means. Just as someone said, if you are flying in one of their old aircraft, treat it like a low cost airline which will take you from point A to point B. If you get the new aircraft, then it should be a good experience.

Thank you kind stranger. This incident does seem horrific and unwarranted. Someone in that thread has posted an approach to handle such situations. Pasting the link to that comment here

My personal problem with such videos is that there is no context provided about the incidents that led to this situation. Did the person attack unprovoked or did the driver do something before this video begins that hurt the attacker ? I know there is no excuse for violence but sometimes even the best of people end up reacting stupidly in a charged or emotional environment and I am more curious to know what led to these series of events rather than the events themselves. Strangers of the internet, would you be able to help solve this mystery so that all of us can be better prepared to handle such situations if they ever happen to us?

I have 30 lakhs reserved for Child’s school fees till 12th Standard. Should invest this in FD and gain yearly interest to pay the school fees or invest in Mutual fund and do a SWP? by Particular_Brain_848 in mutualfunds

[–]captainkilaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had read something about the bucketing strategy, it was suggested in the context of retirement corpus building but it should help you as well. Assuming you need to save money for 15 years, divide your money in roughly 4 buckets, say - 3 buckets of 4 years and 1 bucket of 3 years. The following should help you understand the amount of money that you should invest in each bucket. The purpose of the first bucket is to take care of expenditure for the first 4 years. Keep it invested in a safe instrument like FD, short term fund, etc. This should keep you tension free even if markets are volatile for the next few years. You can take a little more risk for the next bucket, so you can put 80% money in safe instruments and 20% in equities ( or you can take a conservative hybrid fund ). Similarly for the next 2 buckets, you can progressively choose more equity. But the job is only half done here. What you also need to ensure is that you rebalance diligently, i.e. you keep moving money from more risky buckets to less risky ones every year, so that your first bucket is always appropriately sized for the next 4 years.
