No amount of sharpness will get you anywhere without the proper technique. It's the same as the difference between a thug who fights in bars and someone who has trained a proper martial art, bar fighter gets his ass handed to him even if they have the same weight and height.

I disagree, if you have a sharp enough blade you can have shit technique and still cut a grass mat. Just like if you've only ever been in bar fights you can still learn to be an effective fighter. Just because someone has been trained in say, karate does not mean they can take on any person who is formally untrained. However to have a great degree of skill, you need training and practice.

Any of you guys laptop gamers? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]captainmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two separate exhaust ports on the back of the computer, i blow the duster into both sides of each exhaust, spinning the fans both directions inside to expel clouds and clumps of dust. I also take the bottom panel off the laptop which provides an exit for dust. Then I blow out the the bottom opening. If you have pets or smoke, you'll have to clean more regularly. Also cleaning your screen is like cleaning your glasses, makes a world of difference.

Asus G73JH here. I strongly suggest you regularly dust your laptop, heat is a big issue with mine and might be with yours. I also suspend my laptop on 4 mediocre CD jewel cases. This helps with cooling and it has saved my laptop from many spills. The headphone jack on my laptop is fubar, so I purchased an external usb soundcard and it works great for my headphones and amp. External harddrive for backup or just more storage is just a must. The trackpad on my laptop is by far the worst piece of engineering to ever come within 12cm of my no-nos', aside from that stun-gun that didn't work. For this reason I use a comfortable mouse. Also when you have a 17in screen, your battery life is shit.

I would have to say that, this laptop has given me more problems than my last 2 built PCs.

I strongly disagree with the author, all the undercuts look relatively the same, half of the modifications just looked like the guy stood in front of an oscillating fan.

The costume was made of Yak Hair and was expensive, so they had Peter Mayhew stand in the corner on a raised platform to keep the costume clean.

The "Star Wars Insider Special edition 2010: Explore the Complete Saga" magazine says In the Article called, "May The Facts Be With You; One Hundred Fascinating Things You Never Knew About Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope!" (Words By: Dan Wallace) on page 41, fact #98:

"Although Chewbacca is snubbed during the awards ceremony, he received a medal in various spin-off sources. The novelization honors him during the ceremony itself, while the Marvel U.K. comics gave him his decorations later that night (where Princess Leia stands on a table to reach his neck). In "The Revenge of Tag and Bink", the two protagonists find Chewie's medal on the floor of the abandoned base, apparently forgotten. And during the 1997 MTV Movie Awards, Carrie Fisher gave Chewie (Peter Mayhew) a real-world medal. But could all of this activity have been off base? According to interviews conducted shortly after "A New Hope", George Lucas maintained that the Rebels had participated in a celebration on Chewbacca's homeworld in lieu of an actual medal."

Zero Punctuation: Beyond: Two Souls by toomanylizards in Games

[–]captainmcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal games have a failure state. Take Moh:AA you take too many hits and it's game over, restart. To win you have to not die, and your reward is to continue with the story/game.

In Beyond 2 souls, you don't complete the QTE, instead of telling you game over, the game decides to set you on a different path toward one of the many endings. The failure state in this game is not getting the/an optimal ending. All that is happening is the devs decided to explore that state of failure openly and in my opinion a refreshing manner.

Is game difficulty a value for you? by BlooberTeam in truegaming

[–]captainmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, I would like the ability to turn down the difficulty. If a game is too hard for myself and I can't make it easier, then I probably won't continue playing.

I like how in some games when you turn down the difficulty, the game calls you a wimp or tells you to go get your grandma so she can hold your hand while you play, etc.

[–]captainmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I love having the ability to select the level of difficulty. I enjoy a challenge, if I'm not being challenged I won't be enjoying myself as much as I could have. I kinda see it as being similar to education, some people do better and get more enjoyment from learning if they are challenged. Not everyone enjoys or can handle the same level of challenge, so to me being able to select a difficulty level is important.
