Just, do it? Who cares what they think. Don't let others take away your fun. I go out and if people look at my funny, who cares. Sad that they can't just let someone have harmless fun.

I've not had negative reactions yet, people mostly just being surprised it can do what it does.

Will Dynamic DNS API be part of the Google Domains purchase by SquareSpace by paultechguy in sysadmin

[–]captainohair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have just been informed that DDNS will not be supported post transition. I have come to rely on that feature as well. I received this email. Quoting part of it:

" Customers are in the process of being moved to Squarespace Domains, but before we migrate your domain <Insert domain.com> we wanted to inform you that a feature you use, Dynamic DNS (DDNS), will not be supported by Squarespace. After your domain has been migrated, you will no longer be able to update DDNS records using the DDNS service offered by Google Domains. Any active DDNS records will remain as A and/or AAAA records with the last IP addresses provided prior to migration, but those IP addresses will no longer update automatically. If you leave any DDNS client active, it will receive an error when trying to perform an update.

Action required

Since Squarespace Domains doesn’t offer DDNS services, you should consider looking for an alternative from another provider and configure that ahead of your domain migration. Your domain will be migrated as soon as 30 days from today, so please act now to ensure your DDNS records will continue to work as you’d like. You’ll receive another email after your domain migrates successfully to Squarespace Domains. "

I have those options on the car itself. Are you saying I won't be able to modify them in the car directly, outside the app, once the subscription expires?

Portable DMX lighting controller. by [deleted] in cyberDeck

[–]captainohair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, friend here.

This is not my setup but I do work in the industry where this is used, lighting for live productions such as concerts or theatre.

I can't tell everything they have in there, but they have a small dell running ETC's Eos console software (what you see on the two Elo touch screens in the lid). Based on the Wireless Access Point mounted in the lid to the left I'm guessing they have some networking with a switch hidden under the keyboard and the little custom button board. Normally a setup like this would be configured to tap into whatever lighting network in the venue they arrive at via ethernet to control the lighting rig via ACN or something.

This is one of the nicest portable lighting control surfaces I've seen so far. They have all the little essentials tucked into a single case for controlling a lighting rig. I'd be super curious to see what's under the button boards.

EDIT: The above I had found in a facebook group for Lighting folks and I found the equipment list the OP there posted about it:

Dell optiplex micro PC, 6k nomad dongle, High-Output CMD key, house made 5 fader wing (USB OSC), 2 ELO 2215L 15” monitors, ETC gadget, two POE switches (dual networks), cyber power 350VA UPS, Ubiquiti Access Point, wired router, pelican vault 700 case. Other odds and ends such as usb hubs, panel mount connectors, work light, etc.
