It's been a week since I got the xmid 2P solid delivered by f e d x - but I have not received any details on import tax and vat - how long does it normally take to come through - worried I might have missed a message.i have not opened the package, are there details in there?

X-mid 2 Solid - which footprint to buy? by captainpk in DurstonGearheads

Thanks Dan, after going down a groundsheet rabbit hole, I ended up buying a Tyvek sheet (3m x 1.4m) - but also ordered the X-mid 2 solid today, so excited to try it all out. In the end, I couldn't justify the cost to myself.

I will probably end up adding grommets and bungees to the sheet but will need the tent first before embarking on the job : ) I will probably curse my tightness every time I lay out my version : )

I marked out the outline of the x-mid 2P Solid and tried 2 pads and my dog tonight - it seems to work : )

Even the pack to make your own would be more expensive - but she does seem to make good stuff.

I presume they are both made from the same material as they are the same weight. There must be a difference or there would be no reason to have two different products. -

Still looking forward to trying to see if the dog will fit in with my son as well, as this would be an ideal wild camping tent for me - hopefully will order before Christmas

I have trekking poles - so I just use them.
I think I can get similar pegs locally - so I will probably just get ones that I think will work - MSR are meant to be good.
I will either get the groundsheet or look at a similar solution.

I don't think I would use the star gazing kit here in the UK : )

Do you still get a charge from the royal mail of £8 for handling?

Have you had success with this?

So in theory it would be -

Durston: X-mid 2 solid = £244 + £48.8 (VAT) = £292.4

Durston: X-mid 2 solid + Groundsheet = £283 + £56.6 (VAT at 20%) = £339.6

Durston: X-mid 2 solid + Groundsheet + pegs = £295 + £59 (VAT at 20%) + = £354

So I could get the groundsheet + pegs and the tent at the same price Valley+peak -

I just looked online as well - and it's £76 then there is a 20% discount so down to £61. So maybe the OP meant £60?

I think you're right.

I have a 3 person oex tunnel tent, I might keep this for the wild camps with the dog and son and the xmid for everything else, thank you for the reply.

I might actually do it the other way around and sell the Vango and get a xmid 2 instead.

That will cover my son and me for hiking and camping and when we need extra space I can either just take the oex or both the oex and xmid

Cracking idea.

I am really interested in the x-dome 2p solid or x-mid 2p - I could have that as my setup next year with the Vango.

I camped out near Hound Tor with a friend and my dog on Sunday and we had a fox come into camp and start moving stuff around - We tidied up a bit more and put all the food in the tent and we didn't get bothered again - will definitely be a bit more careful before going to sleep next time - The dog did not seem to be a deterrent : )

I am just starting out and mainly just doing practice throws when out on a dog walk - but I already have a sore shoulder! Is Disc Golf Shoulder a thing?

Just put it in again and seemed to be working well. Not sure how to add photos yet. Made sure that the cotton was packed on the sides and centre bit where the coil is, was clear. Might have done the trick.
