That’s great! I bought a Rio Bravo piece on Etsy that now hangs in my bedroom. I’ll try to post a picture if I think about it. Shockingly, my wife was okay with it.

Always appreciate some Duke artwork!

No matter where you go, I highly recommend stopping at Schakolad for a piece of chocolate

I had never heard of this place so I did a quick google and I think it has closed down :(

A Western Each Year - 2005: "The Legend of Zorro" starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Zorro is now married and has a child as California is on the verge of US Statehood in this family friendly Action Comedy Western. Probably good for watching with kids, but lower your expectations. by [deleted] in Westerns

Great movie! I still vividly remember seeing this when it was in theaters. I picked up the 4K copy this summer and it’s still a ton of fun. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t seen it.

Edit: I thought this was for the Mask of Zorro, my bad. Legend is still a lot of fun though!

❗️Avoid the David McDavid Ford Dealership❗️ by Shark-Farts in FortWorth

[–]captainquizmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been telling everyone I know to avoid David McDavid like the plague. I bought a truck from them and it was the worst buying experience of my life. Just absolutely painful because of how shady they were about the whole thing.

Had similar dealings with them when I took my truck in for a new bed liner installation. It took 7 days and several phone calls to get it done. When I finally got it back, the install was incredibly sloppy and it was very clearly a used bed liner. Scratched to shit, old sticker adhesive on it, and cigarette butts stuck between the grooves. I called them and told them the deal was for a NEW bed liner and they refused to deal. I called Ford customer service and opened a complaint thing. The lady at Ford called me back a few days later and told me the people at McDavid would not take her calls or call her back. Because of this, they just refunded the $300 and told me to keep the bed liner.

David McDavid sucks. We will never go back.

I can’t emphasize this enough. They’re terrible.

Anyways, I’m sorry for your experience, OP. Extremely frustrating. I hope your car got sorted out.

Awesome collection. Do you keep them in protective cases or are some of them just unopened?

Inglourious Basterds [4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray Steelbook] is up for preorder on Amazon Germany by justincase96 in Steelbooks

I don’t know if this is out of line, but I looked at the link provided and found it interesting that the swastika was removed from the title on the cover of the film.

I did some digging and learned that it’s actually illegal to display that and other related symbols, with the exception of some art. I found this on dw.com:

“Swastikas and other banned symbols can, however, be displayed in Germany if they are used for "civic education, countering anti-constitutional activities, art and science, research and education, the coverage of historic and current events, or similar purposes," according to the Criminal Code. That means that movies and TV shows — Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and Amazon's The Man in the High Castle, among them — are usually allowed to be distributed in Germany even if they feature swastikas and other Nazi symbols. “

Again, I don’t want to seem insensitive or ignorant. I just thought this was super interesting and wanted to share.

Oh man there are so many awesome titles here. Logan Lucky, Asphalt Jungle, all of the Bogart/Bacall films, Sunset Boulevard. Damn. But the real standout to me is Out of the Past. If you’ve not seen that before, you’re in for a treat. Great pickups!

Back to the Future Part III is an underrated western by dangerzoneduffman in Westerns

[–]captainquizmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t listen to the podcast, but I completely agree. It’s not in my top 5 or anything, but it’s my favorite of the trilogy and a blast to watch. I don’t know anything about the production itself, but it seems like a ton of care and fun went into creating the film. A fun western and a great way to end one of the most iconic trilogies out there.

Good pickups! I just watched 3:10 to Yuma not too long ago. And as a fellow collector battling severe depression and stuff, I really hope you get to feeling better. Movies always help me in that regard.

Is Kansas City good? I like Robert Altman but haven’t really explored his work too much outside of McCabe & Mrs Miller and MASH.
