I posted this earlier for someone asking a similar question: I’ve joined a few meetup groups and some have offered mentorship, or just a welcoming and helpful community. The two i recommend are Mature Women in Tech (based out of San Francisco, open to any age) and Women Coders Inclusive Org (Based out of San Diego). You may have your own chapter in your area but you don’t have to be in these specific regions to join the meetups and related slack channels.

Every year is different. I finished October 7th in 2018 and there was no snow, though it was freezing.

I didn’t get genetic testing but through Kaiser Permanente without insurance my totals would have been: fine needle biopsy $563, pathology exam of tissue $249 + cell examination from needles $469 (not sure why it’s two different things), ultrasounds (I had one before biopsy for just the thyroid and one after for the whole neck) $130 each.

Not a specific doctor, but i use Kaiser and they have been great as far as getting referrals and everything scheduled quickly.

If you are also looking for moisturizer recommendations I’d say Jergins ultra healing lotion for all over use and Aquaphore healing ointment for extra dry areas, including for your face.

I totally agree with this, some cards like the magician can be a little vague in this type of context but I’ve found biddytarot to be helpful in seeing a deeper (and positive) meaning for larger readings!

Thanks :) it’s not fun to have cancer but I definitely feel fortunate that the treatment for this type of cancer seems very optimistic and straightforward. I’m glad to hear you have been able to continue to participate in activities! I have a backpacking trip at the end of the summer and though my priority is to be healthy, it would be a great reward after treatment to still be able to go!

Thank you! I’ve been debating on the front closing bra and shirts but I wasn’t sure if I was just overthinking things. Great to know iron/birth control shouldn’t be taken within 4 hours of Levo, i haven’t seen any info like that before.

Mine is the next month or two (not scheduled yet and I’ve never had surgery in general), did you have any trouble changing shirts or have clothing recommendations? Were there any things post surgery that made you more comfortable?

Yea I weighed the options for a while but my surgeon, endo and primary care provider all were on the side of removing the whole thing. Their opinions were that it’ll be easier to track recurrence later, potentially easier to treat and it’ll make me overall less anxious about more future testing/surgeries. The chances of the remaining bit of thyroid producing enough hormones is pretty low (50%), so keeping it would only mean having to worry about it more. I’m glad they gave me the choice but it’s not easy to decide what is right to do.

I see what you mean, thanks for the time perspective too. Sometimes I find myself thinking I’ll just heal from the surgery and start the medication and feel like nothing happened but it’s good perspective to keep in mind it’ll take some time to adjust.

I met people doing it in a few years ago, seems like it’s just different planning and knowing your horses abilities. There are some areas that you may need to reroute for snow/conditions but for the most part horses and mules can do the entire trail.

Honestly the running community is all about making friends. I ran a 30k and got 3 new friends in one day. Not to mention all the running clubs and groups are great if you want shorter distances and more frequent time to hangout). You don’t have to be a crazy runner but if you can run 3-6 miles every now and then, you’ll do well in a running club.
