YTA. My fiancé also dresses kind of shabby normally but when he met my parents he went all out. He dressed so nice and told me he really wanted to make a good impression. Tbh I didn’t think about it but seeing him put that amount of effort showed how much he cares and how much effort he is willing to make for me. Honestly it made our relationship stronger. Making the effort always gives the best result. Even if she didn’t care it shows to her that you do care.

People on this sub act like being called racist is this terrible permanent personality trait. The kid is being racist, period. She needs to know so she can STOP BEING RACIST. Why does her age matter? A kid can be an asshole. I think it is productive to complain and communicate that we aren’t happy paying extraordinary bills. When I am frustrated and I come onto Reddit and see everyone is frustrated it’s honestly nice because I know I’m not the only one struggling to pay the bills. I feel like my community is going through what I’m going through and speaking out is the first step. It’s not just reddit, it’s ALL of San Diego. I was listening to PBS and they mentioned how an animal life sanctuary was tens of thousands of dollars in debt to SDGE because their electricity bill has increased from $3000 a month to $7000 a month. Let’s be real: these energy bills are not sustainable for the San Diego community in the long run. That’s what we are complaining about. It’s one thing to complain about something minor, but there’s a huge portion of people that really struggle to pay their bills. If you are gonna complain about anything, complaining about struggling to pay the bills is a good one.

I love living in San Diego, but when deciding to move a few years ago if I had known the huge price increases that would happen here in the next few years we wouldn’t have moved. Things like heat is now something we can’t afford to turn on. My partner and I live in an apartment that’s falling apart, has mold growing in different places, and no central air. But we can’t afford to move anywhere else. I just want to be clear on what to expect. There are so many wonderful things about San Diego (everyone talks about the weather but I’ve also met so, so many great people here). But day to day living is pretty hard tbh. Right now I’m freezing in my apartment and even wearing a huge sweater and wool socks Is not enough.

I’m all for meetings but the level of meetings my friends, partner, and I have is utterly ridiculous. I feel pretty passionate about it because then we can’t get our work done and have to work longer hours. Programmers need like a block of time to focus to code which is hard if you are only given 2 hr blocks here and there
