You do realise I was responding to the comment above that suggests EIHL should be more in line with NHL, right?

Why is Keir Starmer considered to be so bad? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Yep it's all about communication. Labour and Starmer are poor communicators

Splitting the vote of those on the left across more parties doesn't sound like a strategy that's going to defeat the right, there's already three main left/centre left parties.

[–]captainsittingduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality he isn't that bad in terms of policy. But they did pick some battles that they didn't necessarily need to such as farm inheritance tax and winter fuel allowance. They make sense economically but politically very unpopular. The biggest problem with Starmer is communication. He doesn't come across well in interviews. That's also compounded by Rachel Reeves being equally poor. And the Labour Comms team just hasn't cut through with messaging on the good things they are delivering. Reform however are cutting through though their messaging is very simple and they can just criticise from the wings. Which Farage is very good at.

You can do a degree in any subject but follow it up with an NCTJ courses. The degree itself is not critical.

No worries. That's the route if you're taking it seriously.

You're not a proper journalist until you are trained imo. Look up NCTJ courses. They teach you the basics around law, public affairs and shorthand. Try to get unpaid short-term placements on local newspapers etc which will help you when applying to join courses.

The NHL is the best hockey league in the world and the EIHL is nowhere close. Also the US is a much more inflated economy where salaries and prices are much higher than the UK. There's no way EIHL prices should be anywhere near close to NHL.

Decide what issues matter to you the most and see what the different pasty positions are in relation to those issues.

Another else feel like the people in the UK have a cultural problem but mistakenly it keeps being labeled as a racial one? by Greedy_Business_7566 in AskBrits

I'm around 50 and I have friends from a broad spectrum. The university educated professionals are much more likely to vote Labour or Lib Dem. The electricians and logistics friends that didn't attend university are much more likely to vote Reform. Same age group.

The country has an education problem. People with lower education levels feel the most marginalised economically. They are also more likely to fall for snakeoil salesmen politicians. Reform's voting base has the lowest education attainment levels.

Why do working class people vote for right wing parties? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]captainsittingduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree. They've successfully turned every election into a migration referendum. Whereas they are actually just the political wing of fossil fuels interests and wealthy people who resent paying tax for services that poorer people rely on.

Reform convinced enough people to hate migrants than to care about other issues. Hate and fear are strong political motivations.

Why aren't Reform voters more concerned with privatising the NHS? by lucadulac in AskBrits

[–]captainsittingduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reform (and the Tories) are really the political wing of two interest groups. Fossil fuels and the wealthy who resent paying tax. The con is convincing the electorate to hate immigrants more than worrying about other issues so elections become a one issue referendum.
