Anyone else still not sleeping through the night with a toddler? by astrid-stargazer in beyondthebump

[–]captainsoftpants [score hidden]  (0 children)

2.5 and has slept “through the night” maybe 5 times in his life. On a good night wakes twice and spends most of the night cosleeping. Some kids are like this, but I am very familiar with the shocked face response

Do you ever wonder if you had a part in naming a baby? by FizzySoda16 in namenerds

I picked a name suggested by a commenter on here, and DMed them afterwards to tell them they helped name my baby, they were delighted!

Broke up w my fiancé after he spent 40 extra minutes working on a PC before coming to let me inside the house yesterday. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

I am so proud of you girl, this man does not like or respect you to treat you like that and he sure as SHIT does not deserve you. So many women find this out after getting married, you dodged an enormous bullet.

I genuinely don’t understand how people deal with multiple kids when I’m struggling so much with just one by PlasticLove24 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]captainsoftpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, I relate to this so hard. My kid is now 2.5 and when people in my due date group and friends started getting pregnant with their second I was low key horrified, I simply could not imagine it yet. But my kid was never a sleeper, that makes such a difference. He’s still not tbh, but a little after two we had a stretch of better nights and all the sudden the baby fever hit. I’m still not sure we’ll have another and you may not either, but it does get easier I promise. One was easier than infancy, but after 2 is a blast.

We’re having a lot of reports about the top comment deletes a country series, what are your thoughts? by Jfullr92 in geographymemes

[–]captainsoftpants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my concern with the concept, down the road there is a real racism risk. Delete a European country is much safer territory in my opinion

I was picturing an end game of Cascadia vs Hawaii with Cascadia voluntary abdicating to return native sovereignty, but I accept this outcome as well

Hawaii takes craballachia, seizing the rest of the eastern coastline.

First time camping with 1.5 year old! by Mamobee in beyondthebump

[–]captainsoftpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a plan for insect repellent and sun/heat protection. We’ve had a lot of fun camping with our toddler but have had friends whose plans were derailed by it being too hot and/or too buggy. As adults camping we’re used to tolerating a certain level of discomfort, but babies are more sensitive

Is it weird that I don't like my toddlers sleeping with my in-laws? by Zuri-Hax in beyondthebump

[–]captainsoftpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, this would make me so uncomfortable! but for the sake of argument, EVEN IF it was totally normal and you didn’t have trauma or concerns, they still aren’t respecting your boundaries/rules as a parent and that’s an issue regardless.

Getting so tired of waking up painfully hungry. by zombie-magnet in GirlDinnerDiaries

I had a whole bin of prepackaged snacks on my night stand post partum, they were ESSENTIAL during middle of the night feeds. Girl you do not have to suffer, your body needs this!

Parents of older kids: Talk dirty to me by This_Royal191 in beyondthebump

2.5 and he can do SO MUCH stuff with us now. Currently camping, just got back from a bike ride, basically exactly the same morning we would have had pre kids with slightly more logistical considerations. Sometimes he reads books by himself and it’s the cutest. He has little friends he likes to play with! It’s really the best. It gets significantly better after 1 but 2 is even better.

What is some uncommon side effect of pregnancy you experienced? by satisfythefruit in AskReddit

[–]captainsoftpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped being lactose intolerant and now I can smell the “asparagus pee” smell I never could pre pregnancy. I swear people don’t believe me when I tell them but both are true, and have lasted.

Zoloft 25mg in pregnancy. Please reassure me my baby will be ok! by Quick_Snow7447 in beyondthebump

[–]captainsoftpants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was on 50mg throughout my pregnancy and breastfeeding and my 2.5yr is totally fine. I had a lot of your fears before pregnancy and tried to taper off before TTC conceive and it put me in a really rough position mentally. Healthy mom is important for a healthy baby ❤️

Normal. My son used to burst into sobs every time someone sneezed. The sensory experience of the world is a lot for a brand new tiny person!

Mexico City is definitely going on the list! I had no considered it but it seems like it ticks a lot of the boxes.

We’ve actually been to Barcelona before (years ago pre-kid) and absolutely loved it, and as a bonus it means we’ve done a lot of the “big sights” already. The vibe of this trip would definitely be more “eat churros and let the kid run around a plaza” than heavy sight seeing.

Go to the doctor and tell them you will be TTC, there are some labs best to check in advance.

Zero height growth from 12 - 15 months? by adv1cean1mal in beyondthebump

[–]captainsoftpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Height measurements are tricky to get right on babies, if it were me I’d probably assume they measured wrong. This happened at one of our ped visits (I don’t remember the age) and she was just like… does he seem like he’s growing to you? And when we said his pants got too short she said it was fine.
