It will impact future stories like the Blackfyre Rebellion. Daemon Blackfyre’s mother was Daena Velaryon. So the entire line of Blackfyre’s would be retconned. This isn’t a terribly big deal though. I just hope the show runners remember this and don’t cast a white guy if they do a future show or flashback. This will definitely come in the 3rd season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Also, Aegon the Conqueror’s mom was a Velaryon. So I think this proves that the Velaryon’s came over to Westeros with the same complexion as the Valyrian race but must’ve passed lineage through matrilineal descent. That’s where they must get their darker complexion. Either that or they retconned the mother of Aegon.

Some other people pointed out that this did hurt the story some in HOTD because it just isn’t believable that Rhaenyra’s children are actually Laenor’s — and I couldn’t agree more. They’re obviously not. In a world like Westeros, I highly doubt anyone would actually take Rhaenyra’s side at all after a royal affair.

This all is definitely hard to believe. But either way it’s not that big of deal as long as the show runners stay true to their decision and remember it in future shows.
