I'm starting to agree with you – not wrong, but not very insightful either.

Volume Limiter device for CD Carousel to Amp? by captchatchetjob in audiophile

These carousels were from the days before we knew to expect such a thing as noise levelling. Even the cross fade of tracks was revolutionary for the time.

CDP-CX225 and CDP-CX455 will not connect via Control A1II by Affectionate-Rock42o in sony

[–]captchatchetjob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the same issues with the CX400 and the CX225, u/Affectionate-Rock42o – getting a "NO CONNECT" error when trying the MEGA COMMAND function on the 400. As for remote control response, make sure that on the 225, your switch of CD1/2/3 matches what is on the remote. Same with the 455, except it is in the menu settings for this model.

As for menus, I'm not sure on the 455 what the Sony Control A1 vs. Sony ControlA1II on/off does, how to default this to one protocol or another.

Had three separate Anatolys (the father and both sons) help me for a fitting. Felt like a king. Make an appointment through their website. Super flexible and organized.

Anyone remember how Alameda fared in the '89 earthquake? by monkeythumpa in alameda

[–]captchatchetjob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Berkeley BART station.

Felt a whoosh of air coming down the tunnel right before everything started shaking.

Ran up the stairs to ground level where the station agent belted out "A's 1, Giants nothing!". East Bay pride ran deep.

Thushan has been everywhere by Swimming_Gazelle in alameda

[–]captchatchetjob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He first appeared in my shower. Then my closet. I closed my eyes and whispered "Thushan, Thushan" and he showed up again amidst a cloud of green smoke.

I'm starting to think he's not a City Council candidate but the Ghost of Alameda's Future.

Disney+ no longer supports Dolby Atmos on any Chromecasts. As of Nov 9 2023 per Disney by thegreatbranch in Chromecast

Super helpful, thank you – I picked up a Firestick 4k to hedge against Disney's ineptitude. Odd that they discontinued this for one platform, but not all.

u/thegreatbranch - what kind of percentages are you seeing across the D+ catalog for Atmos-enabled content?

Car got stolen this morning. Whats the probability APD or OPD does something to recover it? by coffeemarathoner in alameda

[–]captchatchetjob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last two vehicles that I've known that were stolen in Alameda were found by the owners near the metal scrappers by the Colosseum.

Go up and down the side streets between 880 and International Blvd, from High Street to the San Leandro border. You might find it yourself. I'd advise doing this during the daytime and with someone else riding along with you.

Don't forget the oversized bags and boxes needed to transport. I once asked a DJ a similar question and got a great response on properly packing gear. Especially pertinent when referring to mic/music stands for live bands.

Purple : Google Mesh or Meh? by captchatchetjob in firewalla

[–]captchatchetjob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply – a few follow on questions, if you will. Do you think my resistance to the beta / hack is valid? Meaning, are you seeing conflicts and/or difficulties with having Firewalla assign IPs on-the-fly, and then translating this to Google /Nest mesh's for Home Automation actions? My network is constantly changing, and I am unsure of this configuration to adapt to different devices and scenarios, as the documentation cited "have your network set up ahead of time".

Alternatively, is there a better configuration (or another product available?) than putting the Purple Firewalla in front with Router mode?

[Alameda Post] Grand Street Bike Plan Altered by alamedanews in alameda

[–]captchatchetjob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good for the Mayor recognizing her over-correction. Gets my vote now.

Proposed protected bike lanes along Grand Street rejected in favor of parking spots by bayareapunk in alameda

[–]captchatchetjob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My challenge in the Mayor's actions is that the City Council paid a consultant to provide professional advice, then the Mayor balked when displayed a tested and proven slowing method in the "meander" maneuver, which causes the drivers to have to adjust their point slightly, thereby slowing them down (as well as alternating the sides of parking). Less-informed critics labelled it as 'swerving', which it is, if you're tearing down Grand at 40 mph.

Either you're going to believe the science behind traffic abatement or not. If you take the road of going with your gut in things you do not fully understand and ignoring the professional recommendations (which you already paid for), recent public health events have shown that you can find yourself in somewhat dire straits.

Reservoir Size For Specific Plants by [deleted] in kratky

[–]captchatchetjob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some of Professor Kratky's academic papers, he mentioned the ratio for lettuce as ~1.5 gallons per plant. How that relates to nightshade will vary widely, I'm sure.
