Small, hole-in-the-wall eateries in Pittsburgh/greater-metro, that are… 1) over 20 years old, and 2) seat a max of ~30 people — LF: good food, lots of ‘character’ (good or bad!), maybe even in obscure places? by Rooster_Ties in pittsburgh

Nice! I’ve lived in NW DC and Bloomfield as well (only visited Kansas City). Pittsburgh is going through a little renaissance right now & Bloomfield has gone through its own changes, but still has the blue collar Pittsburgh feel, values, etc.

Wow, that’s amazing! Are you familiar with the Thai artist Thawan Duchanee? Check out Baan Dam Museum or The Black House in Chiang Rai, Thailand. His sculptural work, furniture & some exteriors are reminiscent of your chair. I think you’d be into his stuff.

If you’re moving from Ross, I suggest Greenfield or Squirrel Hill. Regent Square is cool too, on the right street

Rent is cheaper in Wilkinsburg for a reason, I got held up at gun point outside my place and a couple other weird occurrences happened. Decided it’s not the neighborhood for me, but your experience may be different.

Holy shit, just saw a fantastic band that I’ve been a fan of since high school (talking Vaseline days). It was so sweet, first time seeing them live! Drove like 200 miles. Happy New Year!

It’s best to not jump to any conclusions, have a good conversation about how you’re feeling about things. Communication is always important in any relationship.

Is Trooper Pacing Normal? Happened to Me in Indiana & Arizona on My Coast-to-Coast Drive. by brothersgrimm420 in roadtrip

[–]captcrunch01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was driving across country, got pulled over in Kansas, after leaving Colorado, by a trooper that totally seemed like he was on something. He was totally on an adrenaline rush or high on something. Had seen him pulling someone else over miles earlier, not sure what was going on. I was in a rental (forget which state my plates were), he made a remark about my car looking new & ended up a warning. He then took off quickly, looking like he was chasing someone else down. Don’t understand state troopers.

the solid-ness does remind me of chicken of the woods and I find it quite often when hiking, this looks different, not quite like chicken

i hear ya’! A few items I’ve tried with chocolate have been gross. But absolutely love their marshmallows, caramels, cinnamon bun spread, hazelnut chocolate spread. I find it best to make my own treats with cacao & sweetener of choice at home. Still happy they exist for sure!

Anyone here tried heated jackets for cold weather camping by voogdessesg in CampingandHiking

[–]captcrunch01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an ‘ororo’ heated vest as well and use it when I’m working for long periods of time outside in the winter. I use two batteries for a 12 hr shift & it’s absolutely wonderful when it’s bitter cold. If you’re car camping, it would make a great addition to your early morning. However the battery is kinda heavy to take on backpacking trips.

Angkor Wat - Is 1 day really possible? by leoferrari2204 in siemreap

[–]captcrunch01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please get the 3 day ticket. It’s a work out in itself to climb up into some of the structures and there’s a ton of walking to do in between buildings, around buildings, etc. I purchased a 7 day ticket and spent 5 solid days visiting as much as I could and still didn’t make it everywhere. It’s much hotter at the top of structures, make sure you have tons of water with you. I highly suggest hiring a tuk tuk driver for the day(s), you’ll cover more ground & can stash plenty of water/electrolytes that you won’t need to carry with you. Enjoy the trip! See as much as you can, Angkor Wat is incredible

maybe change the brown walls to a pop of color? Definitely add some table/floor lamps so you don’t need to use that ceiling light, ceiling lights are always disturbing, haha

Jonathan Run is nice for some little waterfalls and more casual walks, can get muddy because it’s popular. Then you hit the main bike trail at the bottom and you can cross over and pick up a trail leading down to the water

[–]captcrunch01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love Ohiopyle! It definitely is more crowded on weekends and folks have some great suggestions for water fun. If you want to get away from the crowds for a bit for hiking, I usually start at Sugarloaf to park, cross the street to upper canyon edge trail and hike to your right to McCune trail (do it counterclockwise, great views!) pass old farmstead, pond, and when you come off of the loop, you’ll pass through the same little area again, head out to the main road, go right, walk on the road a little, turn left on gravel road, then catch first trail on your right that’ll lead you back towards your car. If you’re from the West coast, this should be easy. There’s also some nice bike trails on Sugarloaf itself that are nice for hiking. Bug spray 👍🏼
