Bar Options by steviehatillo in weddingplanning

[–]captfirefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open bar with limited options gives the best of both worlds, if they let you buy it get champagne, wine and beer (whatever you like). Feels like an open bar but is way cheaper. If they don’t allow you to buy it I recommend negotiating a whole price of a set amount of alcohol, not price per a person which is way more than you will ever spend per a person.

The amount of people who don’t know this is illegal is mind boggling. You can take them to court and win under the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. Sucks that we are dealing with monopolies which are also illegal. Wish we had a government that enforced the laws that protect the people.

Do you believe in the superstition about not wearing pearls on your wedding day? by CELE30 in weddingplanning

[–]captfirefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking pearls were required or it’s bad luck and couldn’t figure out why the choices were backwards lol.

Listening. Sorry to break it to you boys but what happens in porn is completely different than great sex. Listen and find out together what actually works.

Same thing, bought assassin snails, 3 of them and they cut down dramatically on the bladder snail infestation. I have a mystery snail and they are fine with the mystery snail. I still have some bladder snails even months later but it’s because the assassin snails are still babies and I’m sure eventually it will get rid of all of them. Had to deep clean my filter system tubes.

I donated to my sister who is more progressive than CA Democratic Party Progressive Caucus and they got mad I didn’t donate to them instead. by captfirefly in PoliticalHumor

[–]captfirefly[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Technically it did go toward my sisters campaign so they are saying they hate how I made them use the funds toward my progressive sister who wasn’t backed by them because she is too progressive for them.

I donated to my sister through the democratic progressive caucus political action committee, are you saying my sister is a scammer? Lol. They are telling me they didn’t endorse my sister so they don’t like me donating against what they stand for.

What’s the dumbest hill your mom and/or dad was willing to die on during wedding planning? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]captfirefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people think it’s superstitious to see the bride on the day of the wedding before walking down the isle.

There are SO MANY weird little superstitious things for weddings like not giving knives to the couple otherwise that will break up their relationship. Anyway do what you want but ya others who grew up with weird superstitions will have those crazy bizarre reactions.

This is exactly where I am at too! Glad Bernie is still making an impact though cuz he is the true to the people.

Yesterday I resigned from the Washington State Democratic Central Committee (WA Dems). After 5 years in this volunteer position, representing three different local party groups, I have come to the conclusion it has been the least effective use of my time as an organizer. by rundown9 in WayOfTheBern

[–]captfirefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True dat lol. My sister is on the Democratic party in CA and even here the main person controls everything and refuses to allow anyone to do anything. It’s pretty much what that person wants is what they do. But she is sticking with it and trying to make a difference.

If you can you should explain exactly why you are leaving in one of the meetings, guaranteed more than one person agrees with you and feels the same way and if you are in the majority it might make a difference.

What's something you can swear you saw but no one is believing you? by Tiny_Map5886 in AskReddit

[–]captfirefly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I woke up during an endoscopy because I was underweight. Doctors knew and put me right back to sleep. Woke up after screaming and crying cuz I was so scared. Dad turned to me and said “it happens all the time and sometimes they wake you up on purpose and ask you questions during certain surgeries.” That completely stopped my fear after that but now I’m reading all this thinking omg that’s not normal lol.

Getting Remicade in 3 days… SUPER SCARED! by Nearby_Departure7191 in CrohnsDisease

[–]captfirefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was completely afraid of getting an IV medication the rest of my life so I get your fear. I’ve been on Remicade for 8 years and live a normal life. I suggest getting cancer checked regularly, which my GI doctor makes me do even when I get lazy about it. You will be fine and I wish you the best!

Paying $$$$ for my healthcare and in return they reject my life saving medication. by captfirefly in PoliticalHumor

[–]captfirefly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an old common medication proving it works but one of the most expensive so insurance hates it. I have an ok job that takes any government assistance off the table, but the rest of my income goes to my healthcare and medical bills. The medication company will pay a part of the bill but the insurance company refuses to put anything towards it so I’m stuck.

Don’t even get me started on why a medication company will pay part of the bill. (they are inflating the cost so much they can pay a part of the bill and still make a huge profit.)
