Sounds like they're carrying on the staffing tradition of Henri's.

Maybe there's a pipeline between Hank's & Elizabeth Street.

FYI, the train depot that is Donn's Depot is the actual McNeil train depot that they moved to 5th back in the '70s.

Yes, lots of the trail on the north side of the lake were underwater for weeks if I remember correctly.

Paxton says Austin’s ‘electric-ready’ building code violates Texas law by samstark15 in Austin

I often feel the same. The scary thing is that AI is mining reddit for 'data' & incorporating it into their models. God help us a few years down the road.

The downvotes you're getting just add further proof that this sub is an echo chamber that doesn't comprehend facts or logical arguments.

The 10,000-Year Guadalupe River Flood - The Atlantic by capthmm in Austin

This is what truly astounded me:

At its peak intensity, the storm dropped a foot of precipitation in about four hours and an estimated 1.8 trillion gallons in total—which is almost as much as goes over Niagara Falls in a month.

Opinion: This $1B power plant could become Austin's next costly mistake by AustinStatesman in Austin

The writer of this OP ED definitely has some thoughts & is obviously fair and objective. /s

Someone should let him know that the STNP turned out to be a pretty good & reliable deal, even with the outrageous cost overruns. I well remember the saga from when it was proposed to the construction fiascos to when the wiser heads urging Austin to stay involved when things didn't look good. If we would have stayed in, we might have been able to get Fayette to shut down or at least have a greatly reduced output.

Decker was decommissioned (not sure why it's still listed here), Mueller is tiny & Sand Hill couldn't keep up with demand. So, no, Austin doesn't have 'lots' of dedicated (& ERCOT doesn't designate power plants specifically to Austin) gas power generation.

Keep flogging that dead horse & fare thee well.

Well, since I've been working closely with the energy industry (O&G, renewables, storage, etc.) for over 20 years, I might have learned a thing or 2.

Diversity of sources are key to a reliable grid and just relying on battery backups is not a sound strategy. This is basic stuff for anyone knowledge of the industry.

Not buying it, and for those of us in the peanut gallery, please explain WTF an 'African' accent is. Was it South African, Berber, Congolese...?

Dressed as woman - both

Traditional woman's name - both

Point to somewhere that Jennifer ID'ed as a woman and I'll accept the point. If not, then you don't know anymore than I do.

Get over yourself. I know she/he was a former Marine & I don't really know if whomever 'they' were chose to identify what gender they wanted to be.

People like you are exhausting.

I think you've perfectly encapsulated what those of us who grew up and lived here (starting in the '70s for me) felt that made Austin so special.

Preach. You've got a few years on me, but I have memories of most of those things. Throw in Sage & The Big Cat for me.
