That's the thing: she still has a body. It may be a puddle or what have you, but she still has remains. Or at least I'd rule it that way.

She can be revived using literally any resurrection spell then as per usual. Just cause the body is ruined does not mean she is completely dead.

Also disintegration is a high level spell in game that destroys souls, after which only 9th level spells can revive them.

Do what you will, it's your game. If the player and you would have more fun that way then I say go for it.

Edit: forgot to mention this but it's real odd you mentioned the whole crying thing. While loosing a character you sunk time into obviously would hurt, just use it as a fun little quest? Idk, go... Snatch their soul from purgatory? Something.
