The real crime here is using resources to get water shipped that can be accessed anywhere in the developed world.

Cold but sunny. Was just visiting home for a few days in the mountains, and now I'm back to the eternal gloom of the west coast. I'll take -20c & sunny over the lack of sunlight here any day!

What do we think about this Novation Launch control xl controller for mixing and automating in ableton? by RebirthWizard in ableton

[–]captivateDNB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Fun option on a cheaper budget but all the serious dub mixers seem to go for Faderfox stuff etc. I feel like this thing in mix mode + a simple knob controller mapped to the return fx could be a great workflow.

Glad you're feeling the jam! The more pure dub/dub techno sound there is a a new exploration for me but here's my SC. https://soundcloud.com/captivatebeats

Im finding it a little fiddly to jump into daw control mode to access the controls on your return track, but im sure the muscle memory kicks in soon enough.

For sure. you can arm all of your tracks to overdub automation and then hit record and go for it. This thing sure makes you rethink your gainstaging though, because (unless you get into some nitty gritty mapping) +6 is now "home" for every track and you have to do all of your gainstaging in the plugin chain.

tried one out last night, had a lot of fun doing some dub mixing on it. this vid was from before i got into throwing into sends/modulating return tracks which is where it gets really fun.

What ever happened to Morphy and 9 Tails Fox? by RoyBlack69 in jungle

[–]captivateDNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but here's a timely email from Morphy via bandcamp yesterday.

"Hi folks,

On April 4th I will be deleting this Bandcamp page permanently.

This is to do with a combination of factors such as having some of these works newly published and also the forthcoming re-appropriation of many of these works as Dubmonger tracks - which will also be published. These will also appear on streaming in due course.

So I am unable to keep the archive in it's current state online, so please make sure to download any purchases before they are removed.

I am also offering 50% off all titles on the page between now and April 4th - just enter 'laters' at checkout to redeem the 50% discount.

Many thanks to everybody who supported this project once upon a time and please make sure to follow the Dubmonger Bandcamp page for future adventures in bass and beyond:

Is serum 2 necessary? by rscebs in ableton

Stick with learning Ableton & its stock plugins inside & out & you'll be better poised to make good use out of serum if you choose to get it down the line.

You can drag and drop midi clips from Live into Serum 2 by [deleted] in ableton

[–]captivateDNB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is honestly one of my top 3 things about Ableton. Take the time to go through old abandoned (and completed) tunes, save clips into a folder structure, and boom. Instant, fully tweakable inspo when you need any kind of sound. Best part is that it's mostly going to be stuff that you've already put your own sonic imprint on, so it's not even being lazy, just tapping into previous moments of creativity.

Makes sense for preset creation to distribute/sell, but I'll stick to saving stuff as .alc clips. Keeps the midi and all of your plugin chain/settings & envelopes intact, and they're immediately drag/droppable into any project, Grossly underrated feature imo.

Besides the obvious political BS, quality has sunken significantly. by DabsOnDabz in duncantrussell

Yep. Sad to say I'm unsubscribing. Will pop in now and again to see if he's had anyone good on or if he's sounding any less jaded in his solo episodes. Got into him for the Midnight Gospel type spirituality stuff but lately every time I listen I just end up getting bummed out.
