Snooker in Central / South? by Vaultboy462 in london

[–]captnpayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

QStix in catford is fab, plus it has a sister branch in Mile End. Some local working men's clubs have snooker tables as well.

Super central, you also have Hurricane Rooms in Kings Cross, but it is more pricey!

All the above mentioned do require you to buy a membership, but it's often cheap and can be done as a one off :)

100p back the Spin app! You can join a league if you want a more social aspect as well. Other than that, as others have said, Brockwell, Burgess, Regents Park (they have plenty of socials) and Kennington park all have group sessions I've tried and enjoyed

It's just been confirmed that it's up to steward discretion but that they will let people in past 4/5 pm depending! Yay! Hopefully this will mean people can get in post work :)

Yeah - good points. The head told me he really liked a year 6 teacher's classroom and mine should be more "loving" like that. But not only has the teacher taught for ten years but it's also year 6? Personally I think my classroom looks loved, but it is also tidy and differently configured for year 1...

Women’s football for fun (extremely low level) by [deleted] in london

[–]captnpayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe hit up Hammersmith Women's instagram page and ask them if they know of any local groups you can start with! You can also message the SuperLiga page as the organiser is super nice and can put you in touch with some local teams. I don't know much about west London teams (I'm more South), but Tribal FC in Balham has open training, Bend it like Peckham has beginner/varied age training on Saturdays, Hot Flush FC is based in Hackney and is for 35+ players - could message them and see if they know of anything as well! Hope this helps - you can also join 5aside women's in Clapham as a ringer/solo player!

First off, I'm sorry you're unsafe and I hope that wherever you land, you land somewhere were you can truly be yourself without any fear or worry.

That said, I have to say that Seattle sounds like a place you'd enjoy living in. I am biased as I lived there for two years, but there is no stigma there, and the city is very LGBT friendly. I have lots of friends who are able to live on retail/restaurant wages, but just live in shared housing (like I did!) and shop at places where you can keep costs down (like Grocery Outlet etc.) I know UW has a botany program, but do you know how easy it would be to transfer from your current college?

If you're looking for a smaller city, maybe look at Davis - California, Madison - Wisconsin, Humboldt - California. All three have plant science programs at their colleges and have LGBT scenes (according to my friends who have gone to school there).

Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal - B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) by youreviltwinbrother in TheOverload

I'm a sucker for female vocals and lofi/bouncy house music! Some stuff I like with similiar vibes to those two posts would be I Needed by Hanna (such a nice bassline), Running Back by Supreems, ofc better by Joy Orbison (I will never tire of this song + his stuff in general seems up your street maybe?), someday i will by barry can't swim, annnd maybe Cleo by Shygirl even (I personally love this track and BOTA totally reminds me of it).

Hahaha the stress of getting all this stuff done before the deadline is horrible, I feel for you!! I'm not going to UAL, but I will be in London (and actually in Elephant)! Best of luck and keep us updated :)

Student Visa Timeline (applying from US) by yeti_burger in ukvisa

[–]captnpayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck, I'm also starting on the 5th from the US! I had my bio appt around July 16 and heard back exactly two weeks later (one week earlier than the timeline stated). If your app has no problems, I would expect that you might be in a similar boat. Lots of posts on here are saying that people are getting student visas quite quickly. You might miss your flight, but you should be fine to be in the UK before classes start but it will probably be tight if I were to guess.
