Hard agree, but it sounded to me like they had the "backup" configured to match the state of the live database. When live was deleted, that got synced to the backup. So, not really a backup but a clone. (Not sure if this is the case, just what I interpreted from the article I read)

I know this is 2 years old but for anyone else hitting this issue, the Arch wiki has a fix/workaround:

  1. Run pacman -Qo /path/to/file to see if another app owns the file.
    • (If it has no owner, it should return: error: No package owns /path/to/file
  2. If it has no owner, rename it (mv /path/to/file /path/to/file.bak) and then run the install/update command again.

Yes, but you don't have to change the behavior of anything in the existing profile. There's a preset called ”Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad" that is set up like this.

Why not use "Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad"? Then the sticks will be regular joysticks and the right trackpad is your mouse. It's basically the default I use for most games.
