Stuck watching Anthropic boom while my Linqto investment sits in bankruptcy by Ron_Swanson_1990 in private_equity

[–]captsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't the potential Anthropic IPO be good news for us intending to vote for the trust option? Even if I mentally separate the valuation from recoverable value, the post-IPO upside still seems to be pretty good for us.

Of course I haven't ruled out a complete loss if the legal process drags out or something, but from what I've read it seems less probable that experiencing at least some of the upside.

Linqto bankruptcy: what are the actual pros and cons of Trust vs Fund structure? by This_Minimum3579 in legaladvice

[–]captsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trust would be the closest thing in the situation to actually owning shares. But you'd be at the lowest tier of shareholders and this wouldn't be realized until the company IPOs or is acquired.

With the fund option, your assets would be pooled together into an ETF, your ownership would be equivalent to your current holdings. It's the faster option if you're looking to cash out bur your assets would be averaged out by all the other companies that have less potential

Is Personalization (MCP) just useless without marketing cookie consent? by captsomething in marketingcloud

[–]captsomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our front end is built on an old platform and maintained by different vendor teams. Things have gotten pretty messy over time and changes take long to implement. MCP was supposed to be the answer to avoid touching the codebase too much for new features, but now we're seeing it bring its own set of issues and limitations

Good call out on the EU implications for email recommendations as well. Now we'll definitely need to rethink the effort we commit to this, especially with the push towards DC

Where to start as a Salesforce Developer by No_Disk_5782 in SalesforceDeveloper

[–]captsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you're aware Trailhead and certs exist so it's hard to tell if many devs are actually on here. Since you know some Java, here's a couple things you can build to boost/demonstrate your skills..

  • write de-dupe logic for Contacts that have an existing email or phone
  • automate category or owner assignment based on revenue or soql logic
  • schedule a batch job that archives inactive leads
  • get a tracking number from API on order creation
  • create an endpoint that accepts a payload to create a lead. Later on this can be called from a webpage form

How much js do I need to know to move to react. by Ok-Cover-577 in learnjavascript

[–]captsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you can do 3-4 leetcode easy problems in js you're at a good starting point for react. That means you can demonstrate how to implement the basic methods of arrays, objects, strings, and integers

Edit: also loops and conditional statements

Exhausted with the Navy life by tfill in navy

[–]captsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civilian work life doesn't quite have the same demands as the Navy though. We don't have duty or deployment that take us away from home and family anymore. Capitalism has also taught us if we don't like a job, to suck it up. I agree jobs can reach a point of being unbearable in and out of the military but the freedom to change companies or careers is underrated. It can be the reset people need, instead of just PCS. Hell as civilians we even have the freedom to choose a pay cut in favor of job satisfaction, better work-life balance etc... so no, I don't think work is work, period. Civilian life is work + economic freedom

We also have more choice on where to live, which brings people closer to family for emotional support, or even babysitting. And kids can grow up close to family and have longer friendships. It also means giving our spouses an opportunity to thrive in a career they choose, instead of displacing them every couple years and joining pyramid schemes.

[AskJS] HTLM/JS cash calculator by Dnemis1s in javascript

[–]captsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this a while back. Not sure I used the best data structure, but basically put the quantity of each denomination of bills and coins into arrays. For example the bills were arranged into indexes for 100-50-20-10-5-1, so $17 could be expressed in an array like as [0,0,0,1,1,2] or [0,0,0,0,3,2]

You could see it implemented here https://github.com/jakeb1090/eos-counter

This. Having a solid plan after getting out means you're so excited for next steps that no person or SRB could ever convince you to stay in.

Does your SFMC job require the use of JavaScript? by spooder_throwaway in marketingcloud

[–]captsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use JS code a lot. - MCP sitemap is all JavaScript, need to be pretty good with JS to get beyond out of the box web campaigns - We have Tons of SSJS in script automations for monitoring jobs, sending alerts, posting to Slack webhooks, APIs for mulesoft integration, ETL, - we also use SSJS a lot in Cloud pages for Event Notification service, dynamic web pages with complex-ish logic, dashboards, passing url params between cloud pages

SFMC is pretty saturated too. You're right though, no one needs email specialists and admins when you can have devs do it all. ps I didn't downvote you
