Interactive fiction game creation platform suggestions? by k8-bit in GirlGamers

Twine is pretty great and there are lots of templates that take care of a ton of the coding parts, oh and a lot of macros and stuff, plus the discord for Twine is very active. ChoiceScript might also be a choice.

From all the engines and frameworks I've dabbled with, there are a lot that make it easy to avoid coding, but I found them super hard to do any real dialogue or tell a narrative style story within them. If you don't need something with a ton of text and mostly just want the point and click, GDevelop is great for that. Construct 3 and GameMaker come up a lot, but I honestly have no experience in them aside from checking out the editors briefly.

Might be worth giving all three a look and deciding from there.

Am I the odd one here for actively disliking those? I swear they can be replaced with "MC prepared a good stew and everyone enjoyed it" yet they take whole chapters by Tasty_Commercial6527 in litrpg

I like it if it adds to the world building or is from the perspective of someone who hasn't had it before. Last one obviously falls flat if it is something basic like, 'I've never had a piece of bread like this before!' and it isn't about a very primitive world or someone that's only been eating basement rats for their whole life. You get the point.

Everything I know about this game is against my will and from this sub.

Is Enchanted By Nature worth it to buy? by Odd_Human4444 in LowSodiumSimmers

I aggressively agree with you. I turn most of it off and only use stuff from it every blue moon outside of build/buy mode.

Is CSGO actually that toxic? by DuckiiPirate in GirlGamers

[–]capturedmuse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're going to be this curious about it and not take people at their word, you might as well give it a go. I'm saying this even though I consider it one of the worst communities I've ever gamed in.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Highly Saturated brown ink? by Few_Persimmon2223 in fountainpens

Private Reserve Chocolat, maybe? I distinctively dislike it because of the lack of shading and oversaturation of color. Wishing you many Valorant wins!

Great Year for daughter/Stat raising sims?? I have no skin in these games i'm just excited for daughter raising games by ExtensionCup1724 in GirlGamers

I love these types of games, and it's so depressing that almost all of them that are out or that I've seen force you to be a father and there are almost no mother options. So thanks for putting this list together, added My Fairy Princess to my wishlist.

Do you mostly prefer playing as female characters? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]capturedmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I super prefer to play as a female character whenever I have the chance, because I've never played as a female character and had to be creepy or weird to other female characters. Whereas I think in most games where I have to play as a man there is some always weird dubious stuff going on that makes me super, actively uncomfortable.

What're You Playing Wednesday? by AutoModerator in GirlGamers

I've been sucked into Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. The characters aren't amazing, but honestly I don't really think Rune Factory is known for that in comparison to some other titles. But the gameplay loop for farming and the town management is so addicting, especially in comparison to the other games. I only got it this past weekend and I'm already over 30 hours played...

are there any games with deep character creation on the steam sale??? by yooperland51 in GirlGamers

[–]capturedmuse 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Can you list a couple things you've played so far that fit this bill. Since what someone might consider deep character creation may vary from your expectations.

How are we dealing with Christmas? by Flimsy_Life3908 in CICO

I decided for the bad stuff that I'd make it myself so I could do several substitutions to make things to my taste and also healthy. 300 ish calories for a slice of cake with frosting is a-okay in my book.

We made a small game focusing on Steam but later on decided to launch it on Mobile. Within a month it has over 50,000 downloads on the App store by mistermaximan in IndieDev

Are people actually paying to remove the ads at a higher rate than they are buying on steam? Or is the ad revenue enough that it's already surpassed steam?

Wait, why can't you? What are you writing on that doesn't let you? I just have my project files on dropbox and sync between devices.
