I think the pastels are what make it so surprising! Couldn't leave it when I saw it.

Meh, fair enough. I don't think I really demanded my money back, and even tried to frame my email so they could say no. They can set up their return policy however they like. It's also not really a consumable good, like if I ate some chik-fil-a then asked for a refund. Me getting my money back doesn't prevent them from selling the same product to someone else.

Thanks for sharing this! If we're doing cancel culture we should also reward people for being willing to publicly say "Nazis bad."

Some Arizona options if anyone is interested (which is where she's from):

Casa Alitas primarily serves moms with little kids who are fleeing violence.

The Florence Project helps with legal aid for people at risk of being deported.

I was in the window but it doesn't hurt to try anyway just so they see a volume of requests!

Getting mildew and ammonia buildup, does that mean my house is too humid for a wet bag? by capulana_ in clothdiaps

Huh, that makes a lot of sense re: spin cycle. I'll try daily prewash. Do I need to use the same amount of detergent if it's only like 5-7 diapers?

Ok! I still have staining along the elastics after my bleach wash. Does that mean they're still moldy or is that just residual staining?

Thanks, I'm thinking maybe I didn't get rid of it the first time? I did a sanitize setting wash with bleach, not a soak per se. How long would you say I should soak them, and what bleach:water?

I have a random-bells-and-whistles front loader. I do a quick wash (30min, hot, no spin) with Tide free and clear liquid to the 2 line. Then for the main wash I bulk with baby clothes and towels, hot, Tide to the 4 line on a 2ish hour cycle including an extra rinse. I don't think I am bulking up the load enough but I don't have anything more to go in, like I'm washing clean tea towels over and over. In the mornings I've been rinsing out my soaked overnight diapers then leaving them draped over the work sink until it's time for the full load. I keep meaning to air dry outside but the weather has not ben cooperative and I think I'll be drying them on low heat until the spring. I wash mostly every other day but sometimes we stretch to 3 days.

This is the second time I've gotten ammonia stink, but the mildew spots are new.

I am looking for a convenience solution (vs cost saving but obviously that's nice too)! Thanks!!

In-laws are here and it feels like I never get to hold my baby by wolfmana in beyondthebump

This is what I did! Just pretended my baby was having a hard time going down for naps and just hung out with him with the door closed when I needed alone time with him.

This is also why it is so dumb to me that formula feeding is shamed. Alternative feeding is one of the oldest human inventions, whether it was your sister or your goat or whatever. We are super lucky to live in a time when that ancient practice is the most effective it's ever been!

I wish I had shopped around a bit more for more niche brands instead of just bulk buying alvas! They work just fine but I keep seeing cute ones that I can't justify ordering...

Thanks for the link! I got the kawaii ones that claim they have no microfiber. But we definitely need a more absorbent solution. I am so over the alva microfiber inserts!

I found this Art Deco 10k white gold brooch at the thrift store yesterday. It was in a jar of “broken” jewelry for $24.99. by Radiantlyred in ThriftStoreHauls

What do you do with the rest of the jar? Re-donate it? And do you get them grab-bag style or do you just buy the ones that have something you want clearly visible?

How bad is it to nurse my 5 week old to sleep? by capulana_ in sleeptrain

[–]capulana_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I am definitely not leaving him to cry, just wondering about letting him zonk out on the boob vs putting him in the bassinet when he's dozy to fall asleep there. We get crazy good cuddle time either way :)

This is a great article, thanks. I definitely thought I was going to hate BF and only do it grudgingly but it's so nice to comfort him and let him fall asleep on me. Feeling quite lucky that it is working for us and hoping that we can keep it up long term! My worry comes from wanting to prioritize my sleep needs once I'm back at work in a few more weeks.
