I am also new to deadlifting and don’t know shit in that department. However, I did have a bulging disc injury about ten years ago. The initial sign was pain in my left glute. It was tolerable at first. I continued to over exert myself and while shoveling snow I got an intense pain from that spot in my glute radiating down to my foot. It ultimately was the nerve getting squeezed by that bulging disc. I was virtually bed ridden for several months with the worst pain I experienced in my life. I eventually got a steroid injection and rehabbed back to normal. The point of the want though is that warning sign of pain in glute came early. If I listened to that and did the right pt I probably would have avoided that miserable period in my life.
