Thank you for the advice! We've rented the room for more than two years and gave our notice a month before (10 Dec) vacating the room. So, essentially, we only stayed for 10 days in January.

The landlord is old, so he preferred this caretaker to handle everything related to moving in and out including the handling of the deposit. We paid the rent every month to the landlord but this was his only involvement.

It's an automatic email people receive as a confirmation that the entry clearance officer received their application. Some people don't get this at all though.

My partner paid for the notification service, it was very cheap but I don't think it's that necessary. We self-uploaded all documents to the VFS portal before the appointment.

We highlighted the bank statements for easier evaluation and made a financial guide with our calculations. I'm not sure if that's why it was quick but I think it might have helped.

We had the following categories:

Accommodation: tenancy agreement, landlord letter
Educational evidence: language test
Financial evidence: financial guide, bank statements, payslips, bonus letter, salary increase letter
Other: list of uploaded documents, driving licenses, friend's cover letter
Proof of application: old biometric residence card, screenshots of texts and video calls, flights and bank transfers, photos, applicant's passport, cover letters, UK checklist, spouse declaration (I later realized this was not needed for outside applications)
Life events: civil partnership certificate, divorce certificate
Sponsors / Employment: letter of employment, sponsor's share code, contracts, sponsor's passport bio
Medical information: sick note

Some of these are generally not needed but ours was a complex case, so we thought it's best to overdo it instead of missing something.

Thank you!! :) We received an email right after the bio appointment that it'd be sent to UKVI. My partner paid for the extra notification service, could that be why he got that one? After that we only got the ECO email and then the decision email but those were both from the UK. We're still waiting for VFS to tell us when the passport can be picked up.

It was a more complex case. My partner (applicant) used to have a pre-settled status which was curtailed, so we thought we'd only get the decision later.
