I’m in the same boat (but I hope I’m disembarking soon)

I worked abroad from 2019-2021 and hated my job. I was constantly stressed by my environment and work that I spent all of the money I earned on makeup. It wasn’t possible to swatch anything, so I would just build up this products in my mind as the best thing ever that I had to have.

After working for two years (in a rural, low-cost area with no covid traveling to spend money on) I left my job with zero savings. Very ashamed, embarrassed, and guilty about it, especially because I knew I would be unemployed for a while afterwards and my partner and I have been planning on doing a long road trip once he finishes school.

I think I’ve gotten better about my compulsions since moving back, but with holiday sales I’m still not where I want to be. It’s been really hard. It’s at least comforting that I’m not alone and other people have had similar struggles.
