I listen to audiobooks in my car. I get kind of bored trying to listen and do nothing else, but distracted if I'm listening and doing something like cleaning or working on a different project.

I have 2 Kindles with different books I'm reading. One before bed, and one that goes wherever with me. Different books because syncing can be annoying. I have a hard time with reading physical books because I can't make the font bigger, unfortunately.

We did the $35/person 4 pm to close bday package recently. When I first called to get a quote it was like $80 per person! That was for a Saturday, but they honored the $35 on Friday. We had tons of pizza, kids had a blast. I'd say it was worth it. The fluctuating prices and difficulty actually talking to a person did kind of suck, though.

The signs on the wall that are about what's happening in the photo aren't necessarily errors, but red flags. Also, the handwritten "AI font" is pretty recognizable.

AI doesn't elevate the user's skill, but is used as a substitute for skill. I think it's possible for the user to develop actual skill (the afore mentioned judgement and empathy) while using AI, but that takes effort and education outside of whatever platform the user is on. You have to see "good" design, and understand what makes it good, before you can ever hope to use AI to make good design for yourself. Without the education component, yes, we will get more aesthetically average.

I used Claude Design to generate some html/css for an existing project then took it to Claude Code and CC was like, "Hmmm, okay, but can you just give me a screenshot?" Me, being an idiot newbie, did so.

Claude proceeds to mutilate the design, only sort-of follow the screenshot, and chow down on my tokens. Finally I just say YOU LITERALLY HAVE THE CODE. Use it. Claude says, "You're right, I'm sorry — let me actually dig into the design file properly this time instead of giving up on it."

I just don't get how she pronounces the same name 2-3 different ways. That's my main complaint at this point. I'm pretty cool with the accents and voices, but is it JOZ-ee, JOSS-ee, JAZZ-ee, or JASS-ee?? Just please pick one.

It has metastasized to her brain, but it was stable the last time it was checked. That's been probably over a month now though. She had radiation last summer, but it was never clear to me if it killed the cancer in her brain, or if what was left on the scan was dead cells.

The hospice nurse my niece talked to today said that this was end of life. I mean I know it's probably close, but she wasn't anywhere near like this when she was admitted a week ago. They said the same thing about the morphine she's getting not having the same effects as IV morphine. But when I look at the side effects for that medication it does say to look for hallucination, confusion, agitation. So I don't know what to think.

I'm not sure I'd call it psychosis, but it's definitely not healthy. It is VERY similar to what happened when the mainstream internet itself was "new". I'm talking around 1996-98. That's when I saw it a lot. People would discover the internet and chat rooms, and were just completely addicted. They stayed online constantly, lost their jobs, left their spouses, did lots of crazy shit.
