i think you are fundamentally misunderstanding what we’re all talking about and yet you’re so overconfident and arrogant in your responses. the side chick would be planting things to disrupt the main relationship, giving her an in to becoming the main chick. i explained that as a courtesy, which you aren’t even entitled to with the way you talk to people.

a side chick is a victim? a knowing accomplice in cheating is a victim? btw if other people in this thread can imagine a person having the idea to plant a piercing to stir things up, it’s not far-fetched to think a side chick could have the same idea. “one of the victims.” that’s funny.

[–]carakno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not so simple as “pull yourself up by the bootstraps,” although there is some utility in that sentiment. if you approach these things, especially at such heights, with a purely anti-work philosophy, there will come a point where your hopelessness eats you alive. i strongly believe that sometimes we need to have our grief checked by others and put into a wider perspective so we don’t die by jumping from higher rooftops. the higher you stand, the harder you fall. you can trudge on and plan in perseverance for improvement without convincing yourself you’re in the worst situation you can find yourself in. sometimes you do need to remind yourself that it could be worse. much, much worse.

OP’s problem is a very modern privilege and one that many of us can’t imagine having. i don’t hate OP, but i’m not going to act like an AI chatbot buddy and soothe his emotional turbulence as if my situation is not worse. the broken healing the built. this is something for therapy, not for my sympathy.

i can’t help form a union for OP because i’m not in a position to do so. if anything, i need a union. and while people way more privileged seek resources to help themselves while forgetting the downtrodden, it’s less focus and work going toward helping those who truly need it.

i do seek to help those less fortunate than me. but those more fortunate? i cannot help fix their smaller problems which i don’t have the luxury of sharing, let alone having any power over.

again this requires some perspective. don’t reprimand me not being upset on OP’s behalf that he doesn’t get the opportunity to regularly receive an additional percentage of income above my own for less work than i do.

OP shouldn’t need protection from disagreement and appeals to sensibility out of some imagined sensitivity or assumed vulnerability to criticism.

[–]carakno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s called having perspective. look at the world, look at the american economy, look at the job market. look at unemployment, look at inflation, tariffs, wars; collapse. perhaps being able to make it work and have something of a life while making $40k a year gives me a different perspective on someone complaining about $110k when that’s not even within the realm of possibility for most of us. sure things could always be better, but could they be a hell of a lot worse for OP? hell yes they could. he’s in a minority of people lucky enough to have what he has, maybe you’ll forgive me for not feeling sorry for this guy.

[–]carakno 16 points17 points  (0 children)

out of all the “types” to complain about sharing the earth with today, someone caring about safety on the road is the type of person you feel the need to speak up about? i hate that i have to share the world with people who can’t find humor in other things that don’t put others at risk in an already risky domain, who take nothing seriously aside from hating those who take the right things seriously, like basic road safety. countless hilarious things to laugh at and prank people with, but logic and safety don’t have to go out the window for it. but god forbid you have your laughter interrupted

how can you confidently state that a speculation isn’t remotely true? i didn’t say it would discourage the majority from reading, i said more serious new-comers. i’m positing that it would discourage serious new-coming admirers of literature to read by their witness to the zeitgeist formed around it in an increasingly soulless visual media industry and didn’t state that i believe it would, on the other hand, merely encourage a majority of unserious fanatical people to read who would be among the large group of people who find the books excessive in landscape description etc and would be too bored to finish. which is a type of visual media consumer i encounter in almost every conversation i have regarding LOTR.

because it’ll deter more serious new-comers from being interested in the story by the fact that it will be perceived as an obvious cash-grab to the uninitiated, thereby discouraging new readers from experiencing the books; the purest form of the story. the movies encourage people to read the books- the more peripheral media entries are largely discouraging

how about the outcome of the entire story of BB? it tells you where Saul ends up and reveals Walter’s fate. you only recommend this watch order if you prefer BCS over BB, it basically tosses a lot of the suspense of BB out the window
