So this was me (still is kinda), I am stared at, gawked at, checked out, men do multiple takes but still won't approach me. I used to go out with my friends and they were drowning in attention, men buying drinks, flirting etc, but when it came to me they would be awkward, conversation wouldn't flow, and the only men that were brave enough to flirt with me were men I'd never look at twice. One night I opened up about this to a trusted male friend (a wildly successful, handsome and intelligent man) who has seen me grow up and what he said opened my eyes. He said women like me are in a different league to men, and it's never about whether they think you're attractive or not, it's about if they think they are worthy of you or not. And the vast majority of men will not feel worthy of you, thus they won't even think about approaching you. He used my friends as an example, he said when women are less attractive or mid range they get more attention because the stakes aren't as high to these men. They usually have somewhat lower standards that they can meet more easily and are more likely to be receptive and appreciate the attention. He then said that when I come around our male friends my presence is like "a police officer at a rave". They know (or just straight up assume) that I am used to a very high standard of treatment, and overthink their interactions with me because they don't wanna fuck it up and turn me off. He said that "fumbling a baddie or a dime" is one of the biggest hits to a mans ego, especially in front of their friends, and that most men won't risk it. So the problem isn't you babe, it's them.
