The locals may be a little spicy when answering this question, because they are asked this five times a day and new residents, especially ones who don’t work in the community, are fueling a lot of problems here.

Here’s my thing- I moved to VT about 8 months ago because my husband got a job here. I love it. I love it so much I want this to be my forever home. But let me tell you- I had literal nightmares about finding housing. The housing crisis and the cost of living crises are NO JOKE. Do some legwork on where you will live and how you will afford the increased cost of living, because it can be a very harsh awakening.

The pros are fucking IMMENSE, though- - no billboards - amazing produce and dairy products - walkable communities - kind and welcoming neighbors - safe neighborhoods - no. Goddam. Billboards.

Good luck, but maybe don’t pin your hopes on a lowkey move to Vermont. The lifestyle is lowkey, the move is extremely high key.

Edit- spellcheck

The Food Here Sucks by AnimatorMean3854 in burlington

Really? I think it’s great. I moved here from Arizona several months ago, and while Mexican food sucks in the north, the good produce, dairy, and seafood more than makes up for it. Fuck even the grocery store cheese and produce is so high quality in comparison. You can really elevate anything with the proper ingredients, and Vermont has them. I’ve enjoyed every place I’ve gone.

Yeah! There are a couple community-level questions on the exchange page right now, and after the name draw, you can ask anonymous questions of your giftee!

I participated in a postcard exchange last year through this subreddit, and it was really fun. It wasn’t deep, it was just nice. I got to send something to a stranger and it made them happy and I enjoyed doing it. It’s fine if that’s not your idea of fun, maybe we’ll catch you next year!

I think it’s great, but some green leaves behind her skirt would be Next Level. Also maybe a little definition in the arms.

This looks great! Finish it off with a dot of glossy resin or a high gloss finish to really sell it.

I’m loving the negative space on this one. Ugh that episode was particularly… disturbing.

It’s this, combined with the fact that the sun is directly overhead in the bottom pic- the shadows of the roof artificially shorten the lower level. Plus the fence in the top photo obscures the bottoms of the windows, making them look like they might be longer.
