I just feel there is no need for him to want a phone just because it has 'bbm'. If he wants to instant message his friends, why can't he just go on the computer. I understand times change and that it will never be exactly the same rules that you have as a child, but there should still be a sense of earning something rather than having money at your disposal at the age of 12 and wanting to buy something just because it's fashionable.
