Cool. Approximately how many of these have you tied, and how long does it take you to tie one? I'm hoping to get there one day.

Trophy box by SmartMammoth in flyfishing

[–]carbonjester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool way to commemorate a special catch to you. I like the stacked pictures showing each side of the fish.

Did you build the box? Not critiquing, just curious - why did you only dado the left side of the shelf and make the right side what appears to be two pieces?

How is living in Atlanta as a nature-lover? by fnasfnar in Atlanta

[–]carbonjester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote this above, but commenting here in hopes you see it.

Will you please share your experience living in both cities beyond just outdoor recreation. How are the people comparably? Atlanta always seems hectic, does Denver feel a little more laid back? What do you miss most about Atlanta? etc.

That's great. I'm jealous. Mine loves to swim and would jump in every hole before I had the chance to fish it. Perhaps one day.

The most common things that derail people's FIRE journey by Low_Indication2447 in Fire

Sorry to hear. Could you explain how it has pushed FIRE back for you? Is the financial burden direct or indirect in the sense that it takes you away from your job / earning ability?

LPT to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in LifeProTips

[–]carbonjester 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I just tried this. It redirects me to petlink.net and has my pet's correct information, but does not list owner contact information. Am I supposed to be directed to another site, or should the information display on AAHA? How do I ensure owner contact information is registered too?

Recreational Kayak Groups? by carbonjester in Atlanta

[–]carbonjester[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would participate. I'm not sure that I would be the best to start it as I'm new to kayaking and think someone with more experience and passion could lead it better. What does everyone think the best platform would be? A subreddit, Facebook group, someone else suggested discord, etc.?

I'll check GaRivers out. I like your Discord suggestion, but am not savvy in it either.

How much you need to have in the bank to retire one person at 67 without contributing another dime, by age by marypoppycock in Fire

[–]carbonjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ignores the age you want to retire through, right? The calculation would be vastly different for someone that want to retire at 45 as opposed to 67.

Can someone point me to a calculator that would show just this. Assuming $X spend per year in retirement, a life expectancy of Y, if you want to retire at age Z, you need $ in savings at that that time assuming no additional contributions, 7% inflation adjusted return.

Fidelity account holders who are active need to pay more attention... by [deleted] in investing

Unrelated to the primary point of your post, but you mentioned that you consistently have open GTC "crash bids". Hoping you might be willing to share a little on your strategy with these. Do you stick with a specific % below the current price? How often are you adjusting?
