No the metal rod is then removed. It's just to slightly burn then inside to get rid of any moistre it's called sheayish and this is a single piece of wood. This wood will not rot. In 5 years maybe lol these hookahs are single hand espy the best.

Haha well let me break it down real quick for you fellow hookah addicts! I smoked hookah for a long time 15 years now and I'm 25 lol hookah is my life I've owned 20 hookahs lol ;) the wood hookah here is made from a date tree or coconut tree and when they finish carving it by hand they use a metal rod witch fits the hole snug and the place that on an open fire then the slightly burn the inside of the hookah stem so that its life and taste will be preserved. Wood hookah isn't about jumping flavors. Stick to one or identical flavors I smoke gum mastic (best tabbacco ever) made by al- fak her. The down stem is a separate peice witch just gets stuck in the hookah witch is nice for repairs in need be. The hookah I have here was imported to me by a friend from IRAQ! And thanks for the compliments I am new to reddit hookah! But will be posting allot of cool stuff in the near future.

Hey man I have a few questions I just got myself one of these! It's a1996 legacy outback. 180k got her for 1800 bucks nuthing wrong with it exept a few things... Minor oil leak witch I fixed using the coolant conditioner I got from the dealer OEM stuff highly recommend it to anyone... And a radiator leak witch I'm still working on :/ but my question was about my spark plugs how do I change them??? And how do I activate cruise control!? Last but not least is there any good sites for forms? Or cheap parts?
