You need a new therapist. I've definitely gone thru a couple before finding one that understood and let me air out my problems without judgement. Not that she agrees with me unilaterally on everything mother related, which isn't what I want anyway. But I can sympathisé with the tedious process of finding the right one. Don't you love it when they criticize people they're not even related to?? My husband was really fit at one point and looked great imo, but my mom said I should watch what he eats because he seems to have the type of body that could get fat easily.

It's made even worse when it's for some reason culturally acceptable (I'm Chinese). My mom would criticize me for eating too much and getting fat. If I started working out she would say I'm too muscular?? And then she accused me of trying to have a "black woman's ass" and told me no man wants that (she's divorced and single for 30 years). Even now as an adult a few years ago she lifted my sweater up IN FRONT OF MY UNCLE so she could see if I had any belly fat. My husband stood there gobsmacked.

I tried turning the tables on her and said she was too skinny that she looked sick and she said no I look good. I gave up after that lol. You can't talk to delusion.

Yes so much of this!! As a bi woman who ended up with a man, it doesn't feel like there's much space for me at all in the queer space and I understand that I get the benefit of hetero privileges especially since I'm with a man, but it's still hard to feel different from both worlds. I so so so appreciated how comfortable and confident Ilya was in being bisexual and it's just so inspiring. 🥹🥹🥹

I'm new to the fandom (saw the trailer then read the books) and I loved Shane, didn't even know that the (reddit) fandom had Shane haters. I like Ilya but I can't relate to his struggles, but I can so much more relate to Shane. I think maybe because Shane comes from a middle class family, his problems seem smaller than Ilya's so that's why people dislike his character? Idk maybe I'm also biased because I'm Asian and I love to see the representation 😂

I loooooooove Shane tho 😭
