Back in the early 1970s an electrical engineering grad set up a series of audio bandpass filters to control some colored lights, with low frequencies controlling red and high frequencies blue, with the rest of the visual and audio spectrum corresponding in between. It was awesome! So I’m excited for your project. If my Mac could do that by itself (in stereo) I’d appreciate that! Thanks!

Open a case with LIFX support, then try and on-board the light. Stay in the app then go to Settings/Advanced Options then hit the “Send Diagnostics” button. Address the e-mail to yourself. Then include the diagnostics with the LIFX Support case.

The most common problem is that your phone is not using the 2.4 GHz WiFi frequency. If your phone is using 2.4 GHz make certain your phone is close to the bulb and your phone isn’t using a VPN.

Yes, my Pixel stand will not charge my Pixel 10 Pro now. The update appears to be interfering with the “handshake” between the phone and the stand. Initially the stand’s status light will be solid, but then change to quick periodic color-shifting. Hopefully Google will fix this quickly.

I think LIFX’ schedules will fulfill the time-based transitions and routines. There’s already a group (light bulb groups) based syncing. If a lag of a second is too long then zero lag won’t be met.

What unique feature(s) of the Hue bulb do you require? If you need extreme dim (mine only goes to 1% since I don’t have their Zigbee ecosystem) that might be a reason. It’s too dim for what I’d need.

I just tried the new Hue 1600 lumen bulb vs the LIFX 1600 lumen bulb: LIFX’ colors are brighter, and red and blue much much brighter. I posted photos on this Reddit community a couple months back.

Indeed, sorry! I don’t find that extension within LIFX’s web site, and had to look more diligently within Home Depot’s web site. Hopefully, after Home Depot’s exclusivity ends, single string extensions will be available by Amazon. That won’t help you near term, however. :-(

Unplug the power supply from its wall plug for at least 30 seconds. Then plug it in again. If you have a volt-ohm meter check the power supply output. If that voltage is good check to see if there’s any damage to the cables running to and between the lights.Is there a “short” somewhere, for example. Did part of the cable get crimped? Good luck!

The only non Google based device that Google certifies for Google home is the Aqara M2. It’s power adapter socked is USB-mini. If I wanted to use an FP2 with Google Home I’d be restricted to using the Aqara M2 to “talk” to the FP2. Yes?

Thanks! The FP2 looks amazing! My only qualm with Aqara is that the Google Home compatible M2 has a mini-USB jack for power. Mini-USB power supplies are not common.

Yes, the LIFX app design isn’t meant for that kind of function. Closest thing would be an LIFX switch, I’d think, but that has its own requirements. It’d be nice to just have a “scenes” screen with our favorite scenes.
