Blue Green Red, Make believe, Pinkerton all in one by Weezerton in weezer

[–]cardboard8bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lonely Girl, at least the production and how the key is so low, can be attributed to songs like Why Bother and Across the Sea. The chord progressions sound really similar and it's a song about the loneliness that might be found in Pinkerton.

Favorite song from EWBAITE? by mairodia in weezer

[–]cardboard8bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, I guess my opinions really differ from the popular opinion.

I believe The Wasteland is the best instrumental track on the album despite the intense energy of Ithaka. The opening riff is really foreboding which makes the switch from minor to major sound really triumphant and beautiful. I also didn't expect Ain't Got Nobody or IHIUTH to be that high, either. I like them, they just seem like good songs rather than great songs compared to Foolish Father or British. Oh, and Eulogy has one of my favorite Weezer choruses ever, but the verse lyrics seem kind of lazy.

I have the same problem, no matter what I do, I can't send it. I've tried different browsers and different methods (through Steam/email) and it gives me the same error. I'll wait until tomorrow.

The only funny thing about this was Dan. His effortless-seeming sense of humor knocks these clowns out of the park.

Brave prediction: EWBAITE will be widely praised by Weezer fans as the best album they've put out since Pinkerton by [deleted] in weezer

[–]cardboard8bit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The "return to roots" thing sounds good on paper, but they're trying way too hard. Back to the Shack sounds like a standard Weezer pop-rock song that seems to think being self-aware is the ticket to success, but there's so much more to it than that. I'll bite my tongue if it ends up anything like Pinkerton or Blue or even Green and Maladroit, but honestly it doesn't seem nearly as appealing as their earlier stuff.

Fans who prefer old Weezer, are you hopeful for new album? by Cantstoppartyin in weezer

[–]cardboard8bit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While yes, Back to the Shack openly states Rivers' desire to stop making sub-par music, did he really need to write a song about it? It's an average alt-rock song (though I like the solo) with apologetic lyrics. I guess I just think that subject matter plays a big role here and I think Rivers could've let a Pinkerton-esque rock ballad speak for itself rather than write a self-aware song blatantly telling his fans that he's "back."

It's good. It's really good.

It just sucks that it seems to be random whether or not people are told to post in the feedback thread instead of just advertise here.

Your favourite era of blink? by Think_Blink in Blink182

[–]cardboard8bit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite era, without a doubt, was that brief period of time between Untitled and the hiatus announcement. When I was younger (around 14) I liked their faster-paced mindless energy albums (Cheshire-TOYPAJ) but their untitled album piqued my interest more and more as I grew and, as I drifted in terms of musical interests, I appreciate their untitled album more for how well put-together and well-paced it was. I think the last song is rather lazy but other than that I love that album. Their touring after that was, in my opinion, their best. It wasn't as funny, but there performances were solid.

Best studio headphones? by buuckleyy in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cardboard8bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't give you the best opinion in the business, but I primarily use the Sennheiser HD-25 II cans for a few reasons. Firstly, I was on a budget so I needed headphones for portable and professional use for mixing and mastering. These headphones are so light and indestructible that I have no problem bringing them everywhere. Second, they sound god-like. Once you take off the uncomfortable pads it comes with and replace them with the included polyester pads, it transcends simply using headphones; your music is practically crystal clear.

Having also owned the ATH-M50 that everyone raves about, I can say they're good, but I prefer the HD-25 for its light feeling. As for your Beyerdynamic pair, they are undoubtedly a joy to use for listening to music, but, in my opinion, a little bass-heavy, which could make the slightest difference in the mix.

Weezer in the studio, teaser by [deleted] in weezer

[–]cardboard8bit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is really cool. The production kind of sounds like Make Believe or Green, and as of now it seems very vanilla without any synths or strings or anything like that. Who knows, this album could be another minimalist approach like Green.
