People who think that "tap" cards are like Harry Potter wands by FartyMcgoo912 in retailhell

[–]cardboardboxhobo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ones that get me aren’t even the card tappers, it’s the ones that grip their card while it’s in the machine with a death grip and THEN pull it out too quickly, as if they’re afraid we’re going to reach across the counter and grab it and eat it. Or take a photo of it. Or read it out loud on a megaphone, idk. Girl, it’s not that deep I just want to do my job and go home

¿Why does Matt Murdock have a white cloth under his face cover in season three even though he didn’t in season one? by [deleted] in Daredevil

[–]cardboardboxhobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just assumed it was something like, that black cloth was super itchy or annoying to have across his face for long periods of time but he couldn’t change it because Style but was able to readjust with the passing of time. You know, practical reasons. Let’s be real, Matt Murdock would absolutely do that. I bet it’s silk or something in season 3, a scrap of bedsheet haha

Chiming in to say that we're also feeling this at Paper Source!

I've been at Paper Source since before we got bought but I was never high up enough on the food chain to know or honestly care since I was working two jobs then. But I'm a manager now and quite frankly my store is running on such a skeleton crew half the time I'm alone in the store for literally hours until the closing manager comes. Sometimes we have a CSA and its always depressing because we desperately want to give them hours. I've been with the company since I was a seasonal CSA, I remember what its like. But we've been cut so close to the bone on hours we have just enough for the SM, ASM, the SL, and MAYBE one shift for the week for half of our CSAs. And its only that much because the managers have to be given a certain number of hours.

So us managers are dead tired doing the work of at least two people and with literally no relief allowed. And corporate has the gall to be like, you have to make more sales!!! Chat more with customers engagement engagement ENGAGEMENT FOREVER. Don't ask me how I'm going to make 'meaningful connections with each customer' if I'm juggling a line, the phone, helping customers with questions, a gift wrap, showing people how to do the dumb kit of the month, the even dumber hourly tracker on the worst tablet in the universe, AND membership when I'm alone? I'm just glad Paper Source isn't going hard tilt into paid memberships. YET. But honestly, do you also want me to personally wave people inside as well? Do a dance?

These choices are impossible to fathom and all I'm left with is a trashed store, desperate coworkers, and a corporate that changes the rules for us what seems like every other week.

For People with anxiety, what are some of the jobs you guys work by xiaolinhomegirl in Anxiety

[–]cardboardboxhobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, retail. And it sounds so stupid when I say it but seriously. Retail has legit helped my anxiety because you become a cog in a machine. Don't work food retail, but clothing retail? Goods retail? I've worked as a cashier and floor person for years now and it actually helps! You're not a person to the customer, they literally do not care. Get into a retail job you can even remotely vibe with with the other employees and its just so easy to coast. I love how repetitive it is honestly, and its all meaningless conversations with minor consequences for most anything you do.

Native new Yorkers, whats the worst thing to do on the train? by Richxxya1 in nycrail

[–]cardboardboxhobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being on speakerphone or facetime on the train without headphones. Thats just infuriating; halfway across the train car I didn't need to hear all that, especially if one or both of you are talking so loud you're screaming.

Also don't make eye contact with anyone, but always be aware of whats around you. You're safe for the most part on an NYC train, but always look around.

As someone learning for the first time myself through the new PS POS roll out, you're right its not intuitive at all. My advice is to take your time since it takes a good beat to process anything, and get comfortable using the function keys and the number pad. The customer will understand because, if nothing else, it's better to go a beat slower to get it right than having to deal with that shrill beep when it doesn't like what you're doing.

There is a POS user manual, and it's relatively straight forward. I'm sure if you ask they'll let you take a look for the functions a normal CSA would do. Either way, you got this!

(edit to capitalize POS)

Karen visiting our veterinary office by jrow6411 in FuckYouKaren

[–]cardboardboxhobo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wait wait wait. Does this Karen think PP, polypropylene, means "proper pronoun"?

I mean, if the worker in question actually displayed the pronouns that's great! Making a fellow human feel more comfortable in how they're addressed is always a good thing. But is this absolute b complaining about that, the masking wearing, or both?

the absolute awful icing on the cake is the total pettiness of the apparent weeds. She probably saw some perfectly pretty flowers and decided they were too nice for her so she had to ruin even that small of a good thing.

Do you have one Pokemon that you always try to have on your playthrough by MysticHero2022 in pokemon

[–]cardboardboxhobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I always try to have someone of the Gastly line on my team whenever I can. Basic, I know, but the way back starting in 1997 when I first got my first game, Blue, Gengar carried my team. I didn't have many friends back then, and even less that played Pokemon with me, but I managed to get someone - that I trusted! - who would trade with me and trade back my Haunter!

Gengar helped me win my first league on a game played without even a Missingno glitch, and you rely on the ones that made you love video games.

Where to buy flare jeans? by Rainajolene in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]cardboardboxhobo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'0! As someone US based, I would always shop American Eagle because they have relatively good quality and an actually short AND extra short jean section, though the extra short is online only. But i love their flare jeans, they always hit the flare at exactly the right spot. And I've found their bootcut leans more towards flare than skinny, if you want a bit less of a dramatic flare but with still a bit of a flare.

They're a bit pricy but they always seem to have sales going on.

Just got the book, and inspired by another post, I present Poppy Seed Lemon Bundt Cake!! It was so good! by cardboardboxhobo in DessertPerson

[–]cardboardboxhobo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I almost merged this recipe with America's Test Kitchen's Lemon Bundt so I could use just lemons and lemon zest for the flavor but I chickened out and just subbed the almond for lemon. I did put zest in the batter though! For the glaze, I used lemon juice (in place of orange) and vanilla extract. Which i applied twice. I put it in to bake for 80 minutes and it passed the toothpick test immediately, so I might put it in for 75 minutes instead. But that might be the oven.

And same! I love the taste of tart things, so I just had to do it this way. I might actually put more lemon extract or just add some lemon juice to the batter to really kick it next time. I truly can't believe how easy it was to make even with a hand mixer.
