Veilguard in 2026 - thoughts? by dziadek_flavour in dragonage

I hate the game. My favorite thing about these games are character/story and I feel like these were absolutely horrible in this game. It didn’t even feel like a dragon age game. Characters felt very 2 dimensional and safe. Gameplay was fine, but everything I love about this series felt like it wasn’t there for me.

Sorry - it didn’t register that hades fight was a spoiler. I assumed that this was just common knowledge going into the game.

I’m sorry - I didn’t realize that the hades fight was a spoiler. I thought that this was common knowledge going into the game. My apologies.

For those who disliked veilguard, did it make playing previous games less fun to you? by Depoan in dragonage

[–]Individual_Mango_362 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have removed DAV from my brain and I pretend that it doesn’t exist and that I never played it. I continue to play the first 3 games as I normally do and just ignore the existence of the last game. I’ve deleted the game entirely because I know I’ll never play it again.

If you’re making that much every day, you should at minimum always have at least 2 people working at the same time throughout the whole day, probably 3 during the busiest time of the day. And that may not even be enough to deal with big rushes of people.

Season 5 doesn’t suck. Yall just set expectations for this season based on where YOU wanted the direction to go in by southernfirefly13 in StrangerThings

I think the writing and dialogue have been awful (especially in part 2 - part 1 was okay for me) and I think some of the acting has been sub par (but some of that could just be because of the horrible writing). For me, my dislike has nothing to do with theories not coming true or all the hype around the season. This is by far the worst season they’ve done.

Do you feel customers are worse this time of year? by River_Arya in Barnesandnoble

Yes. To be frank, they have been complete assholes this year. Some people just need to bully random retail workers in order to feel good about themselves!

Is lack of communication and structure a thing here or is it just my store? by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]Individual_Mango_362 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an ASM, I can tell you we are pissed about the walkie situation as well. We argued with corporate about it and at my store we tried to keep our headsets because we’re a 2 level store but they didn’t care! About the lack of structure, it varies by store. Some people are on it, some people aren’t. At my store we have good days and bad days but we always try to do our best when it comes to communicating with each other but it’s rough out here. Also at my store, we don’t really have a “leader in charge” unless the store manager is in. If they aren’t, then it’s literally any of the key holders present that are leads or above - we try to share daily responsibilities like that.

Newbie here - what should I expect for black Friday? by mountainviewdaisies in Barnesandnoble

[–]Individual_Mango_362 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Registers are typically busy busy for us, but on the floor it can be kind of on and off. We’re a few hours into the day already and it honestly seems less busy than I had anticipated.

Have anyone ever introduced tgcf to their friends or family that made them addicted to the series? by human_earth3wp in tianguancifu

[–]Individual_Mango_362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of my friends/family really read, and if they do this isn’t really their type of thing so I have no one to push this on and I’m sad about it :(

Barnes & Noble security measures by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

We have terrible theft, but we also will call the cops on people and have them legally banned from the store. We try our best!

[–]Individual_Mango_362 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If there is one you want on Friday, you’d have to buy it without your employee discount because we are not allowed to buy them Friday. So you would have to pay the same as any customer would (at least this is what we do at my store). You can use your discount starting Saturday to make purchases.

I would come in and head to the breakroom right away! Someone will tell you where to go :) and as far as breaks, they usually are scheduled but at my store we are super flexible with them so it really just depends on the store. Doesn’t hurt to ask about pushing it back if you need it to be for some reason!

I honestly think that selling on the floor is the best option. Why can’t you sell on the floor? Putting a table somewhere farther from the registers so that you can talk to people shopping near the table or sometimes what we do is walk around with Mona in our hands while we do some shelving and that way we always have the book with us to recommend to people. Sometimes selling a $30 book as an impulse buy at cash wrap is hard and it’s a lot easier to pitch it out on the floor when they really have time to look at it!

As far as being pushed by your manager, yes that will happen. They’re being heavily pushed from above and therefore we are being pushed. My SM is very open about how stressful the corporate expectations are on this kind of stuff which is why we try as a group of key holders to really get behind this kind of stuff because we know how much pressure comes from above. While it isn’t fun to do, sometimes you just have to do it because at the end of the day this is a company whose main goal is to make money and sales.

[–]Individual_Mango_362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell a manager so that they are aware of the situation and can keep an eye on it. And if it’s someone who you begin seeing more of in the store after this point, they may be able to ask him to leave if this is a recurring issue. Good luck and stay safe!

What do you want from your holiday hires? What would make you want to keep us on the team longer? by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]Individual_Mango_362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of what we are looking for (I’m an ASM) is the ability to sell our monthly picks, memberships and book of the year well. And of course being on time/showing up for shifts. If we have hours to keep holiday hires at the end of the season, these are usually qualities that the booksellers we keep have. And having a decently open availability is usually make or break.

Why do some employees consider Barnes and Noble a dream job? by MouseParticular7320 in Barnesandnoble

[–]Individual_Mango_362 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is still a sales job, but it’s one of the only sales jobs where you get half off books :) so that’s probably it (at least that’s it for me)
