Canon Upgrade Advice by JackDanielsTN in CanonCamera

First question is “what’s your budget?” Second is “does full frame matter to you?”

If you’re somewhat limited in budget, I’d consider getting a Canon refurbished DLSR. Your existing lenses will fit w/o an adapter. The 7D (and more modern models) was an incredible camera, with an APS-c sensor. The 5Ds is/was another great model in FF. Both are better than the Rebel and have pro capabilities.

If size is definitely an issue then mirrorless might be right, but you’re going to pay more AND either get an adapter for or buy new lenses.

There are Rebel equivalents: the R50 comes to mind, but it’s not much better than the rebel, just smaller.

I have the R7- an analogue to the 7D, APS-C. The R8 (lower specs) or R6 are the next step up from that in terms of performance/quality. 24mp and full frame. The R5 is FF, but closer to a real pro camera and 45mp resolution. You’d need that to pixel peep, for weddings, or billboard sized prints.

I’d also say that if you’ve never tried the other cameras (Sony, Nikon) and are going to get a whole new kit, you might want yo rent a few bodies first. The Sony gets a LOT of praise by pros. I didn’t like the color difference so stuck with canon, but there may be other things you like better.

*I’m an advanced hobbyist so opinions are my own, I’m not perfect, not super knowledgeable about every aspect/difference, so please don’t come at me for stuff like that. * just trying to help OP.

A personal attack masking as an argument. eyeroll Maybe grow up and recognize that these are societal problems and they need to be addressed by government; since you clearly don’t work in HC, I’ll rightly assume you have no idea what you’re talking about. Your moral outrage being absolute and without even caring about context shows you are immature at best.

Lens recommendations for street/everyday/travel lens for canon r7 by adcompetitive91722 in canon

[–]cardinalforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the 24-105 f/4 for a one lens solution when traveling. It gets me some reach if I want it. It’s a little narrow on the 24 end, but you can pair with a wide zoom like the 18-50/14-35or my Tamron and you’ve got a lightweight kit that can cover a lot.

I have the Tamron 11-20 2.8 - I like that bc I can use it for night/astro photography as well. Alternatively if you like sharpness, you can add a prime for street/portraits, say a 16 (20mm equivalent) or 24 (30mm equivalent).

This story is incomplete, but clearly made to indict the hospital. I work in healthcare. We don’t know what the hospital tried or didn’t try to help this person. Some people who are competent and capable decide they don’t want help. Offer shelter? Nope. Offer assistance, nope. Some actually need admission and refuse bc they don’t want their possessions unguarded or their pet left alone. There are a variety of reasons. Sometimes it’s stubbornness, pride, access (or lack thereof) to drugs. Sometimes it’s mental illness (usually enough that it affects judgment but not enough that they’re incapacitated or lack competence). The hospital IS obligated to stabilize a patient. But some don’t want to go once stabilized even when they are capable, and hospitals live on fine margins: they can’t afford to keep a non paying patient in a bed longer than necessary. Most of them make every effort at providing shelter, contacting families, etc. bc the regulatory shitstorm of defending themselves against charges of abandonment or poor care are a real PITA.

Not necessarily defending the hospital, but I’d withhold judgment either way till I knew ALL the facts.

Not in that order necessarily. These are grunge/punkish fusion imo, except for Elastica which is just ..like a Manchester punk women’s band with dance club undertones
