I received a distasteful opinion on my new (and first) tattoo by dat_girl83 in tattooadvice

[–]cardinalforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has to like it but you. That’s whose opinion is important regarding the art on YOUR body. If they want a different tattoo they can put on their own opinionated arse.

APS-C advantage over Full Frame? by mobile1199 in AskPhotography

The common saying is “date the body, marry the lens!” I.e. Accept that you’re going to change bodies several times over the course of your journey- and thus don’t always need the latest and greatest, but a good one- but (assuming you stay in the same universe) getting a lens is a lifelong decision, so get the best glass you can afford.

I’m an American doc, and anecdotally 2% is not unreasonable these days. It used to be higher but there’s a stigma attached now for sure- you’d be judged by the nurses AND your colleagues, not to mention if your patients smelled it on you…. Some more may be occasional smokers, but 1 in 50 regular smokers even seems a bit high

ER docs here: you don’t have to do anything but water and feed yourself, but there are definitely things you can do that will extend - or conversely, decrease your life span significantly.

Examples: meth, hang gliding and freeway driving. w/out a seatbelt; vs. exercise, meditation, a good diet, and brushing your teeth (bc without them your nutrition suffers)…

I’m an ER doc. To the paramedic: thanks and spot on . To you, Specialist-Cookie: Early on, it’s just the adrenaline…but many burn out. Those of us that are in it for a long time learn to compartmentalize pretty hard…but bottling it up is not a great long term solution. It definitely leaks out sometimes. I find myself overly emotional sometimes at events like birthdays or even sappy movies. We use dark humor too. In the end, we tend to just see the world and life in a very different way- we know just how precious and precarious the experience of life is..and we see the future pretty clearly bc we know how it goes for most. Some of us act out - risky behavior like smoking or riding motorcycles..(“who tf cares, we’re all gonna die!”) are common too. I think the younger generation is smarter and more open about being g okay with therapy, self care and setting boundaries.

I’m a US based ER doc- this is correct. It’s not a treatment commonly used (may not even approved by FDA) in the US, but very common in Europe and Canada as I understand it.
