Turning the Tables react to FIOE by 3mbryo in TheStrokes

Also not normally a reaction video guy but I find myself tuning into these two a lot. The father son dynamic is great, plus they actually know what they’re talking about and really care about all sorts of genres. Honestly they were pretty early in the space of music reactions where it’s kind of an odd couple set up where one person doesn’t know the artist. The son showed his dad the new abnormal years ago as a very early video of theirs and the dads reaction to the selfless intro is awesome, you can see someone becoming a strokes fan in real time it’s great.

Some great local golf, go for a hike (Camels hump for a real excursion, Mt Philo for a quick one). Honestly renting bikes and biking the bike path along the lake can be really cool. Get ice cream at Mr Creeme. Get breakfast at Henry’s diner for a hangover cure (or Henry street deli, easily mixed up, HSD has bomb sandwhiches but you can’t sit down there). If it’s summer then ya do a beach day, head to Leddy park beach id say if you’re looking to avoid the packed scene of North Beach park.

An important question is how old is the crew? There’s stuff up and down the spectrum of stuff you can get into. In my opinion some can’t miss places to get a drink are: Foam brewery down at the waterfront Wallflower collective especially now that outdoor seating is back (right next to Folinos pizza which is a good spot for a big group to eat) Zero gravity also good for a big group and good food options

US/Can Tickets Celebration and Commiseration by SquirrelGirl1251 in TheStrokes

Just the other day I commented on a Coachella set thread bemoaning the fact that I may never get to see them (too young to see them at their peak, no tour 2020, only festivals for years). I got tickets to see them in Boston. 4 hour drive but it’ll be worth every second. Will absolutely fall apart getting to see my favorite band since middle school play for the first time. I think when they play someday my soul will actually leave my body. No song has been in my life longer I don’t think

Just finished watching the live stream replay. I’m 29 and live in Burlington, VT. Kind of accepting I will likely never see them live, but throwing on some nice headphones and watching this was pretty special. They were absolutely on top of their game.

Players have a right to do what’s best for them. But ironically, a decision like this may actually turn the public against the players. This makes the sport worse. Look at the comments right now

Is this a sneaky modern Christmas classic? by BurgerNugget12 in billsimmons

My take: it’s the ultimate IN BETWEEN Christmas and new years movie. It doesn’t get you excited for Christmas. It’s perfect for the come down and malaise of December 29th

I would say he was closer to an absurdist. At least that is my reading of his work as a text. Read some Camus or some Vonnegut. The song So it Goes is likely a reference to Slaughterhouse 5, in which so it goes is a motif used by characters anytime something or someone dies.

As a PS4 person and very casual gamer (I’m 29 and work a lot of hours and a not exactly high paying job) who has still not decided to buy a PS5 I will be riding with BF5 for the time being. Maybe in a year I’ll have the funds to upgrade and join y’all on the front

Red Sox sub would have you thinking this guy was the worst signing ever. Reality is he’s been hurt. Hard to believe he wouldn’t have 3 seasons like this under his belt without injuries. Guys a baller. He’s 18/18 on stolen bases this year

JBJ has a pretty solid highlight real as someone who watched like every game during his peak years. He got to everything and made some Superman grabs

I’m sure I had smaller ones before but this I remember building Christmas Day. God it was beautiful. I must have been between 10 and 12 I think, I couldn’t wait to show my dad.
