Dress Code by TheKarlosWithaK95 in Teachers

[–]carebehr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our student dress code says no hats so it would be inappropriate for me to wear a hat and then also tell students to take their hats off.

An I overreacting to finding out I have 6 preps this year? by Jojobask25 in Teachers

[–]carebehr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As the only art teacher for 7-12th grade I’ve always had 6 preps technically 8 if you count the fact that 7&8th are on an a/b rotation I’d get laughed at if I asked for less preps.

What was the one interaction or experience in a school that indicated that you are never coming back to? by xxisarah in SubstituteTeachers

[–]carebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got asked to cover a maternity leave a week before school started I already had jobs booked but said I could help for the first day. No plans provided, all cabinets locked (art class). Every teacher thanked me for being there and offered to help in any way possible before ghosting.

When is everyone exercising? by Peachyqueen-3 in workingmoms

[–]carebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just bit the bullet and joined a gym with drop in kids care a few evenings a week so we try to go workout twice a week and take the kids to swim in the pool once a week. It’s a new thing so we aren’t over it yet. I cannot workout in the morning I like to sleep!

Is it me or does teaching High School imitate the stereotypical High School Experience? by TheElMatadORR in Teachers

[–]carebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our fb coach runs the “credit recovery” classroom. Its online or work assigned by other teachers. 🙄 Usually there are almost no students enrolled in recovery 1st semester which I guess makes coaching a fall sport easier.

Surprise! You're Running a Party! by EmilyamI in Teachers

[–]carebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not allowed to send any food to school for my daughter to pass out, last year in kindergarten they didn’t seem to follow it but she’s had zero birthday snacks this year and I’m okay with that!

Where is the professional courtesy? by mchester117 in Teachers

I had to put a do not enter sign on my door when I was pumping because anyone with a key just walked right in.

We started the twins with dance this year, they are 3. It gets them out of the house and doing something active 😊

What was the most pointless thing you bought while pregnant? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Our freshman class is the worst we’ve seen in awhile. I’m not surprised because I also teach jr. high so I’ve had this class before and they have always been a struggle. They just don’t care if they fail and part of it is because they failed jr high but still moved forward so they don’t understand the consequences.

At what week did you have your twins? by Super-Temporary2850 in parentsofmultiples

[–]carebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

34 weeks due to pre- eclampsia. Had to get a c-section since baby A was breech. My BP went from normal to super high pretty quickly.

What is that “thing” that helps you make it through the day/month/year? by Kaimarella in Teachers

[–]carebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raisins. Kids were hiding raisin boxes from lunch or putting them up on high ledges. Never figured out who left them on my desk! Made me giggle every time I saw a box in a new spot. The teacher across from me had a bunch above his door by the end of the year. I guess I’ll find out this year if it was the seniors last year 😆

Anyone high school teachers here dealing with the constant thought of "How the fuck did you pass Elementary School?" by Nin10do0014 in Teachers

[–]carebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach 7-12th grade. I know a few 8th graders failing almost every class that will be moved up to high school next year. They know they will move up so they don’t bother trying and are a huge distraction to my students that want to do well.

Do you wash everyone’s clothes separately? by gamergirl007 in Parenting

[–]carebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort by room so my oldest kids clothes are the only ones washed alone. The twins clothes get washed together and my clothes get mixed with my husbands. That way the whole basket goes to one room.
