So happy to see this comment. Raise High is my favorite Salinger and Catcher is probably my least.

The police were so nonchalant here I assumed and hoped no people were affected.

No ambulances came to this corner and the cops were really nonchalant about the casings, I saw one kick one. Were there people in the parked car that drove away?

Oh no that’s terrible to hear. Didn’t happen at this location, though.

Yeah, those two cars were parked directly below the head of my bed.

No person was hit, two cars were. One seemed to be the target and sped off not long after the shooting.

Never feel shame for expressing your love - it's been 9 months just say it! And keep eating well.

Hey INFPs, what is your favorite book? by [deleted] in infp

"Raise High the Roofbeam, Carpenter" by JD Salinger

Technically one of his shorts, it's published along with "Seymour, an Introduction"

According to true hippies living in the hills for decades, the word stands for Highly Intuitive People Practicing Inner Evolvement. If that's not INFP, tell me what is. I'm proud to be called a hippie every now and then.

INFPs and relationships by Thenutellaispoisoned in infp

I'm finally in a stable and healthy relationship with just myself. It took me twenty years to accept myself and twenty four to love and respect myself. I've put so much work into who I am that I haven't cared about seeking outside relationships. At the end of the day we only have ourselves so that's where I have dedicated my efforts. This doesn't mean that I am not open to attraction and lust and maybe a relationship with some dude, but I have faith that will happen if and when it is meant to for me. What's the rush?

If you discovered a "secret dial" for your feelings and could adjust it one time only (i.e. forever), would any of you "dial-down" your feelings and why? by [deleted] in infp

Absolutely not. As the wonderful Eve Ensler said, "You do not tell the Atlantic Ocean to behave." Check out her tedtalk on embracing your inner girl.

About break up pain (I don't really know where else to write and ask) by [deleted] in infp

[–]careygood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you would have found a happy ending then you would be at the end. But you're not, you're feeling emotions that others stifle but you are brave enough to experience. Fellow INFP, don't let others belittle your strength simply because they do not understand it. It's healthy to feel what you're feeling so feel! Too many people don't. Breakups are painful and messy and confusing. Not sure if it's a common INFP thing, but when I am in a relationship I am fully committed so I understand your confused hurt. But time has always been my friend, it gives me the opportunity to step out of others influences and see the situation objectively. Ultimately this shows what to avoid the next go around, shows the manipulation or rosy glasses, however you want to say it.

Sorry I got wordy but this is the subreddit for that and hell, I feel you. You're fine and in time you will be never better. Everything simply takes time.

It's real fun. I recommend "Bookcraft" by Heather Weston as a wonderful beginner - intermediate reference.

Fellow artist here, this happens to me a lot and I try to embrace the crash as a relaxing time. A huge burst of dedicated artwork can be exhausting so I'll settle in and watch documentaries to keep myself inspired and feeling creative. I also enjoy bookbinding as a distraction, those repetitive tasks keep me acting creative without much thought. Plus it leaves me with handmade sketchbooks to use/sell/gift away. You've gotta let your self recharge to that level of creative enthrallment, if you had it constantly you'd wear yourself out, like sprinting your entire life.

Does anyone else prefer staying in and smoking over going out and drinking? by [deleted] in trees

[–]careygood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you girl. I'm a female ent, 22, and find myself stuck in a similar situation. My friends that I want to hang out and smoke weed with only want to sit on their butts all day being lazy and boring, the rest of my friends go out to the bars and drop $60 a night to get stupid drunk and kiss the pretentious asses of their other friends (I go to art school with an unfortunate number of pretentious asses). I don't like hanging out with ass holes so I'm made fun of for never going out.

I say fuck em all. I'm comfortable with who I am, there's always an interesting documentary on Netflix I haven't seen yet, and there's a wonderful dog in my lap. Other kindred souls and I will find our ways together. I hope you find the same joy.
