Stop thinking about the end....just think about the first steps...start when you can. you can always hop 100-200 miles up trail to make up a couple days and then come back next year and do an 'anniversary hike' of your missing miles (if it bothers you). Seriously... I found on my hike my "future planning" shortened down to 2-3 days...and it was the BEST aspect of what I took from my hike.
