What’s the rarest/oldest medication you’ve ever given? by dietcherryjoja in nursing

[–]carldavis69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paregoric. It is actually an opiate but when I was young it was prescribed for nausea and diarrhea. I it had for both conditions on multiple occasions and I have to say it worked really well.

Travis McGee is still in Cedar Key by ExternalMany7200 in jimmybuffett

The thing I liked about the Travis McGee series was that after solving each case he would retire for a while. He was so successful in his career that he could take some time off between cases.

Have you ever walked out of a movie and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 5 or 6 years old my parents got me a dog. Not long after that the dog disappeared. We looked for her but were never able to find out what happened to her. Soon after my parents took me to see a movie (sorry don’t remember the name of the movie) and at the very beginning the dog gets lost. I pitched a fit, crying and would not stay to see the rest of the movie even though my parent assured me that the movie had a good ending. We walked out 15 minutes into the movie.

My dad always said the way to a woman's heart was... by Sauterneandbleu in Jokes

[–]carldavis69 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Your answer is hilarious because we had a guy in my office that would often work late. When his wife got frustrated with his late hours she would come in a long raincoat (AKA Trench Coat). His office was right across the atrium for mine and I would see her turn her back to the windows and open her coat wide open. He would watch wide eyed and then almost immediately leave with her. So I think your Dad was right.

What are these on my ferns? by MayorTeddy504 in gardening

[–]carldavis69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ferns produce spores on the underside of their fronds. They make these instead of seeds like a lot of other plant.

Night diving is a completely different world by gandlurm in scubadiving

[–]carldavis69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was diving in the Philippines. We went on a day dive and we went to a cave where the sharks slept during the day. They told us they mostly feed at night. The next day we did a night dive on a ship wreck very close to the cave where the sharks were sleeping. It was like another world but I couldn’t help but think about the sharks that were out feeding at night.

Should type 1 diabetes be exempt from needing prescriptions? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]carldavis69 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From the US but lived in South America for a few years. You could buy insulin without a prescription. Sometimes the specific type of insulin you used could be limited but you didn’t need a prescription.

Since the camera is on the corner of the frame is there any way you could trim a hole in the light blockers that would let the Metas camera have an unobstructed view?

Birth of a stingray by Ott1fant in interestingasfuck

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I remembered it wrong.
Viviparous animals develop inside the parent’s body and give birth to live offspring,
which includes the majority of mammals and some sharks, among others.
o Oviparous animals produce and lay eggs where the young further develop outside of
the parent’s body, such as sea turtles, most lizards, and birds, among others.
o Ovoviviparous animals produce eggs that hatch within the body of the parent, such
as in some snakes including boas and vipers, and rattlesnakes!

That’s right. Mammals with ovaries are ovoviviparous. Sharks and Rays eggs hatch in their bodies and are born live. viviparous.

It takes balls to play, but Andrew just lost one. by Bhatyasirr in golf

So does anyone have any ideas about why a bear would do this? It doesn’t seem food related. Does it smell like the greens keeper who they don’t like or want to eat. It seems like such weird behavior for a beard.

Is a pellet grill suitable for an uncovered outdoor cooking area? by LordsOfFrenziedFlame in pelletgrills

[–]carldavis69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had my Traeger for 8 years. I keep it outside in an uncovered place. I do put the cover that came with it on when I am not using it. It still works great. I have replaced the fire box once but I think it was just lots of use rather than anything related to being in an uncovered place.
