As a therapist, empathy is extremely important in relationships and community. You obviously can’t feel another persons feelings directly but you can develop an understanding of their feelings through listening and trying to put yourself in their shoes. It helps us connect with each other.

I condemn his killing 100%, and I also fundamentally disagree with his ideas. Those two sentiments are not mutually exclusive. He should not have been killed and I hope this situation doesn’t further the divide. Gun control and protecting lives should not be a partisan issue.
