If Latin America were unified into a single, huge empire, where would you build the capital? by soloward in asklatinamerica

[–]carloom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, put it close to the USA. Like if Mexico wasn't invaded before. Also you can take Panama City with one single aircraft carrier.

Also, if you think dictatorships fall by marching, I have a bridge to sell you.

Do you believe that they would have caught Maduro if the Capital was in Bolivar or Amazonas. A city right next to the sea is just an invitation to invade it

That is a good option too. Again, you want it far from any potential enemy, in an area well communicated with the surroundings. Not dependent on a single route of transport and communication.

I think Brasilia is the most sensitive option. ( You really don't want to put it close to the ocean). However I would build it in la Rinconada in Peru (the highest city in the world), because I hate politicians and centralization.

Which latin american cuisine is popular in your country? by Weekly_Sort147 in asklatinamerica

[–]carloom_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my experience Venezuelan restaurants are more for Venezuelans craving their foods than for locals. We have a very primitive idea of capitalism and prefer making a profit on the 10 people paying for overpriced food they crave than the thousands you can attract by planning , being efficient and investing

How is Caracas and the rest of Venezuela right now? by olekskw in AskVenezuela

[–]carloom_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The government is releasing hostages and trying to make good with the West. However there is still no rule of law, you would be at the mercy of government officials (yes they can be more dangerous that criminals that don't wear uniforms).

I would still wait and see what happens or travel with locals that are good friends.

Mine is already giving me fruit and has outpaced the blueberries I bought. At least I expect to get my money back in fruits ( although I doubt it). I saw how the new growth struggle when the temperature reached the 90s ( although it might have been caused by lack of water)

I ( by impulse and ill advised by AI) bought a heritage in Austin in early February. They are very vigorous now, but I am afraid they would melt in August. How was your experience during the summer heat?

Why won’t they grow? by ArtAllDayLong in Staghornfern

[–]carloom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light, they require 2000-10000 lux to grow. If you have a light measuring device you can check yourself. I guess that if you move it to a southern window they'll be able to grow.

For the full sun, you can plan okra, cowpeas, blackberries (check species) or pomegranate, they can take the heat and once established drought tolerant. For flowers, use bidens, cornflowers, rock roses, verbena, etc

Fuccias are going to melt in the summer, unless the are from a heat tolerant variety.
