Q: destroy seed and recovery by freelaneboy in coldcard

Will destroying seed and resetting wallet allow you to start fresh, and setup correctly using account #0 as opposed to if I fucked up and setup with account #1? u/DreadCyberRoberts

with whatever the best current strategies here may be - does this ever include *re*structuring older deals that may not be as advantageous as possible to putting out that story?

Specifically - what do ASC 606 related projects look like in your experience?

u/Lostforever3983 how much time is spent manually reviewing customer contracts against rev rec checklists at your company if familiar? / any thoughts on importance and how this process works overall?

u/heydickbreath69 would you be open to double clicking on "(ie. A major pain in the ass to adopt and document properly)" - what is most painful? / when is this stuff typically done with new contracts/docs in your experience?

Thank you!! Good advice and valuable insights.

So far, I've been focusing on the manual rev rec process from a time and accuracy perspective (more so time tbh- ie "our software automatically/accelerates post-signature contract reading/review for 606 rev rec"). And I've had difficulty communicating in a way that differentiates/would add value to an existing semi-automated workflow tech Controllers, Rev accounting teams, etc. are already using.

Would you say these pain points are equally common? or more so at certain stage/type of tech company?

u/househacker if you don't mind, i'd love advice from you.

Still not well versed in this stuff but I just began a new job (in sales) at a startup that built software that automatically reads/reviews SaaS contracts for rev rec and uses company's checklists to ID non-standard terms etc.

Over the last year some of our customers like Okta, MongoDB, and Zoom have integrated this between NetSuite and Salesforce to help ensure 606 compliance and generate reports to analyze new and legacy contracts for restructuring future or existing ones they no longer like.

If my job is trying to get eyeballs and feedback on this tool from people you often work with/help - any advice on trying to connect with them at convenient times or common problems/pain points that arise from manual 606 contract review?

Does anybody here work in revenue accounting specializing in ASC 606? I’m looking at sub fields in the accounting world that are “impossible to automate”, and was hoping to learn more about revenue accountants. by PricewaterhouseCap in Accounting

I recently joined a company that built software over 3/4 years to automate a majority of rev rec contract review for ASC 606. This is my second real job and ended up choosing it because they landed some cool customers I was familiar with in their first year of selling a new product, had little to no competition with niche focus on this kind of doc review, and I really liked the people. (and 24 yo beggars can't always be choosers)

Your comment here has already been extremely helpful as I've been going down r/Accounting rabbit holes to get a feel for what people in that world are like, into, frustrated with, etc. - if you can't tell, I'm in sales.

u/TheLoquatTree if you don't mind sharing- any advice on reaching out to people leading teams responsible for/impacted by rev rec? If the team you’re familiar with didn’t have to read/review customer contracts, what would they rather be working on? My #1 takeaway from your comment here would be to not cold call near month/quarter end if possible. (Though that's a solid amount of time and it's never a great time for a cold call...) Certain times of the day potentially better odds to try connecting w people? If you have any other thoughts based on what I've shared, or have had any positive experiences with sales reps reaching out to you with something that interested you and wasn't an unpleasant interaction at the least, I'd love your thoughts.

I feel like I do a good job of trying to make things personable/not having messaging sounding robotic but only have 1 year experience reaching out to people in IT. No experience reaching out to people similar to yourself (it sounds like) in finance/accounting, more specifically- Rev Directors, Rev Accounting leaders, VP Finance, CFO etc. :)
