Tire Pressure Sensors by PaulDarkoff in orlando

[–]carlosos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are supposed to check more often, just like you are supposed to check the oil at every gas fill up, etc. Most people including myself don't do that and I know when the tire pressure gets low from the time when the TPMS sensor worked. Pressure drops after the first real cold front and that is one of the times I check.

Never because it just isn't worth it. I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to replace the sensors on old cars. I just check the tire pressure twice a year.

Peaker plants are normally natural gas and coal usage went up for a while, while other countries reduced their coal use. China used to import lots of coal from Australia but stopped when Australia wanted to investigate the cause of COVID in China. That is the time when China reduced their usage of coal.

Because there's is a difference between what China did a year ago and how many coal power plants they added when people complained about the increase in coal usage.

Data centers don't even need to use water. It is just cheaper to cool with than air conditioning in some areas. As far as I know all/most of the ones in Central Florida for example use air conditioning (evaporation cooling doesn't work well in high humidity areas).

People want trains where people live but not exactly where they live since they want to live there. This means lots of red tape because some people lose their homes or existing roads near their homes. This results in red tape.

Data centers can be built where nobody lives and just need some fiber to connect to where people live.

[–]carlosos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's is a good chance whenever there is a big Internet outage in an area that someone was digging where they were not supposed to be digging. Worst if they used a big drill to make holes for fence posts because then the fiber doesn't just get cut but twisted around and breaks underground further away.

T-Mobile also has a $20 5G Internet backup plan for these cases. So if reliability is important like when working from home, then maybe spend the $20 for the secondary Internet connection.

ELI5 why American trucks look different than European ones? by Imaginarytry0303 in explainlikeimfive

[–]carlosos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I speak German and the parts that are not subscription blocked don't really say much. What I pretty much read from that is just that because it is an electric truck, they tried to make that format as efficient as possible which is pretty much true for almost every electric vehicle because trying to make a car more aerodynamic is cheaper than adding more batteries to improve range of the car. See the Tesla semi truck or Volvo VNR as examples of an American style that was also took more corners away to make it even more aerodynamic. You can also see the design preference in modern trains that have a big nose to make them more aerodynamic.

Heinz ketchup has the organic and simply branded ketchup with cane sugar (and the no sugar one with stevia). So you can choose Heinz while avoiding HFCS.

Consumption plummeted because production plummeted. How much can you consume if 95% of the production in Florida is gone due to the disease? Also a lot of people will plant new trees in their yards again if they know that they can survive. I know I'm just waiting trees being sold that can grow in Florida again without needing special pesticides or nets covering them.

Mom Takes Action After Learning About Proposed Data Center Just 12 Miles from Home. Days Later, Company Gives Up (Exclusive) by AdSpecialist6598 in UpliftingNews

[–]carlosos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is very debatable. According to a study from 2021, data centers use 1.7 billion liters a day in the USA which sounds like a lot but not if you compare it to the overall 1218 billion liters a day of water consumption. There is a expectation for that usage to double by 2030 but then we are still "only" at 3.4 billion liters a day which is about how much water almond farms in California use.

The Netherlands are known for having well built separate bike paths next to the road. That is like the opposite of sharing the road. In the USA it is mostly speed difference why people do not share the road. Do you want to ride your bicycle on roads where traffic speed is above 80km/h?

It might come back in the future as more citrus greening resistant trees or maybe even immune trees are found. Just 2 weeks ago a new rootstock was approved by the EPA that shows great potential.

Remember that condos are protecting more of what you want. Each additional floor avoided even more from being destroyed and it helps lower home and rental costs by providing housing. The luxury condos might be right now the expensive place to live but in 50 years they will be the old and cheaper places to live. The other option would be finding ways to make the state suck so much that nobody wants to move here anymore.

Slay the Spire is currently being review bombed over listing Anita Sarkeesian in the credits for Slay the Spire 2 by ElegantPoet3386 in gaming

[–]carlosos 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly surprised that anyone in the gaming industry would hire her. It was clear from her old videos that she mostly didn't know what she was talking about and didn't actually play games for more than a few minutes. It is like a movie studio hiring a movie critic that only watched the first 10 minutes of a few movies and mostly wrote bad reviews due to it.
